If he's gonna' stay at SMW, I don't really care;let the superfight marinate while he and triple G look good beating up guys in their respective divisions and then GGG can move up, lose and then fight whoever for the belts vacated by Ward who moves up after he beats Golovkin. If Ward is gonna' move up soon, fight GGG next and be done with it. What I don't want to see is Ward move up and then back down to fight the very dangerous Golovkin.
If Golovkin wants to move up then I'd like to see that, no doubt in my mind that Ward wins that one though but would be a big fight. After that, I want to see him move to light heavyweight and try his luck against a Stevenson or Kovalev or Hopkins. No interest in seeing a 2nd Froch fight, it was not close the last time and Froch could never ever beat Ward in a million years, pointless fight if there ever was one.
Froch-Groves winner, GGG... then a move up to fight a Kovalev or Stevenson or whoever holds the linear title at that point.
Martinez for me since he's the only guy who Ward would not be able to tie up easily. Kovalev looks a monster but Rodriguez himself was a big dude and Ward just subdued him. GGG would probably win some rounds, but I think Ward from the outside would be too dominant and he'd win it based off that.
I would say GGG because once he goes to LHW there is no possibility for GGG fight, Ward wins clear UD vs GGG
I think he should fight Erdei next. Zsolt's been calling him out, wants the fight to make his name in America, said he would take the fight at Super Middleweight and would be willing to travel to make it, and would be a good name to add to Ward's resume considering he's a former Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Champion who many would argue should still be undefeated and didn't deserve to lose to Grachev.
Froch II and Bika\Dirrell are literally the only significant fights left at 168. After that, I think everyone would like to see him move up and fight the Kovalev\Stevenson winner.
Theres only 3 of those named Id like to see.Stevenson,if he beats Bellew, then Kovalev. Both obviously at light heavy.Must admit I want Bellew to make Stevenson a non starter, though.By the time thats all sorted,GGG will probably have run out of opponents at middle. This one at super middle.Hopkins would have been a great fight at one time but I think his last one showed us he's not what he was.Chavez fight does nothing for me and he beat Carl so clearly that I can't see any point in a return, even here.
Ward is not going to move up just to get a fight people. He is p4p 2 in the world. He doesn't need to chase people, people need to chase him. Ward is smart, he will stay at smw as long as he's comfortable then move up when he's ready.
Another top 10 contender at 168, and less than 6 months from now. I'd like to see him reign 168 with an iron fist while a bigger fight develops.
Hopkins. Make the fight while it's still possible. Ward should move up for a one time deal to 175 (he says he's not ready to move up to 175 for another year or two), give Hopkins a 7lbs weight advantage to his 20 year age advantage. A decisive win over Bernard is rare and would give Andre some star power he needs to make those other fights more meaningful.
