good post. floyd will be back. the itch he can't scratch will pull him.

if any of you guys have boxed and had a rivalry or any ego-driven goal then you'll know what i mean.

    floyd isn't finished yet.

honestly, just keep doing what he's doing. he prides himself on fighting the best and looks like after the Margarito fight will continue to do so. I'm not a big Cotto fan, but damn it i respect him.

Even if Floyd isn't finished yet, doesn't mean you can't discuss whether Cotto will surpass Floyd's legacy as it stands now whilst he's 'retired'

If he comes back, then we can reassess what Cotto has to do to surpass him.

Honestly, Floyd is 39-0...You don't think he wants to hit 40-0 by ending it with a fight with Cotto??? This guy is retiring because he doesn't want to fight anyone else unless its a VERY meaningful fight. He isn't going to fight any mandatories etc...It's either another DLH fight or Cotto for Floyd, and he WILL fight a minimum of 1 more time.

Well, after the De la Hoya fight he said he was gonna retire. Then Hatton insulted him and he came back. Haha.

Floyd has retired 3 times already. Its somewhat annoying how much this guy likes to play with the emotions of boxing fans.

It may be both ... jecxbox ... give DLH a chance to build himself up again ... and give Cotto a chance to fight someone and prove that he's forreal --

He retired after the De la Hoya fight.

    After the Baldomir fight also?

He didn't retire after the Hatton fight. He said he wanted a break (8-12 months).

You guy never know what you got till its gone ... I think its good that Floyd retired ... it give some haters and non believers the chance to think about his career and if he was actually that good.

For 1 we all know Cotto is for real.

My take on this is this....

Floyd thinks that DLH could beat either Margarito OR Cotto.

Floyd would rather wait to see DLH take on the winner of Margarito/Cotto

If DLH beats the winner of Margarito/Cotto than Floyd would fight DLH and retire as it would spark an interest in the rematch with Floyd/DLH...

If Cotto beats Margarito and then Cotto goes on to beat DLH, Then Floyd would have no choice but to accept that Cotto is the **** and make the fight everyone wants.

If Margarito beats Cotto and Margarito goes on to beat DLH, Then Floyd would say **** this ****, and fight Ricky Hatton again by murdering the little ****er and retiring.

My friends this is EXACTLY what Floyd Mayweather is going to do :deal
