If Calzaghe keeps winning more decisively than Hatton he should stay ahead of Hatton even if Ricky beats Paulie & Pacman.

Now, if Hatton were to defeat Mayweather, thats a different story.

Hatton isn't beating mayweather, he's not stupid enough to rematch either. I think mayweather is one of the only fighters that can look comfortable against hatton.

p4p number 1 though? if no one else has some incredible wins, i'd say paulie and pac should do it.

Maybe he should beat Collazo decisively no?
I still think thats where the Hatton bandwagon should have ended but of course it couldnt because HBO had just signed him for a 3 fight deal.
That KD at the end could have been the difference in the fight. I think Collazo had enough left to finish him.

Nothing because he is in a weak division. If he was at welterweight and some how cleaned up the division you could consider him #1.

Paulie & Pac. Then stay away from the Welters! Maybe beat Marquez or Guzman. Or even a mega fight with Khan, if Khan gets a spectacular win to elevate his standing.

Beating Malignaggi and Pacquiao should move him into the top 5 but it would definitely take a victory over Margarito to move him into the consensus P4P #1 position.

The question is whether Mayweather Sr. would let him fight Margo and if Ricky is still willing to take risks to chase greatness and redemption after losing badly to PBF.

Malignaggi, Pac and Margo would move him into top 3. And some would claim he even had a claim for one of the top 2 spots.

However this is assuming that Calzaghe and Pac will not fight in the meantime. Which is unrealistic.

Hatton is far too crude to be p4p no. 1. He is a cross-breed between Gatti and Ruiz. I think Mayweather is an idiot, but he is about 100 times the boxer Hatton is. Several others are far better boxers than Hatton will ever be: Calzaghe, Kessler, Dawson, Mosley etc. Hell, even Kelly is better technically than Hatton. Not that Hatton is bad technically, but there are several people that are better.

i dont think theres a chance of this happneing...BUT

if he beats malignaggi...and if pac BEATS oscar and hatton beats pac (by good margins), then yes he'd be p4p #1...huuuuge longshot

No, I actually thought he lookd pretty good personally in pounding a top ten fighter around the ring for the best part of 12 rounds. No-one has beaten Lazcano up like that for a long time. Hatton was the same fighter he has always been, come forward, a little unrefined, tendency to neglect the jab, open to the left hook but still dished it out for most of the fight. In any case, for the definition of looking terrible see Malignaggi's performance on the same card (or his one prior to that for that matter).

Back to the point, I don't think Hatton can be p4p #1. There are not the fighters at 140 to afford him that status. Malignaggi, Bradley, Holt ae all fairly useful but they are not the names to get you to p4p #1 status and Pac is unproven at the weight (plus he's fighting DLH next). There are the big names at welter, but these guys are too big for Hatton.

Malignaggi, Holt/Bradley and Pac (IF he can pull it off vs DLH) would get him top 5, maybe top 3.

Ricky could KO Jesus himself and still wouldn't crack most ESB haters top 10 simply because the majority create their P4P rankings out of emotion.

BTW to call Hattons style crude is to have never seen a real fight.

No infact you're way off. Ricky is an overhyped wrestler that throws dirty punches from a clinch every now in then....The guy has NO boxing ability and when he fights in Britain the ref does everything besides sucking his **** to get him the W. Get over it you hype buying limey. Hatton is horrible, Collazo schooled him, Floyd made him look like a cabdriver and Urango beat him up. So **** off with your gay Hatton nut love:good

:patsch :patsch :patsch :patsch :patsch If losing eleven rounds on all 3 cards is beating someone up I guess that must have been some whupping Tito put on Hopkins. Or Barrera on Pacquiao, Mosley on Forrest, Morales on Raheem etc...
