He would beat all of them. I am very sold on Kelly Pavlik. Hopkins is too old now and just simply doesn't have the legs to go a full 12 with him. Calzaghe doesn't hit hard enough to keep Kelly off him, and may not have the chin to handle what will be coming for 12 rounds. Kessler just isn't good enough.
I wouldn't say he beats any of them. Calzaghe and Hopkins have too much ring savvy for him - though Hopkins may tire down the stretch to give Pavlik a chance. But please bear in mind the fact that Hopkins is titanium chinned and would take some knocking over. Kessler is the most winnable fight for him, and as they have reasonably similar styles it would be an entertaining encounter. But I just feel from watching the Kess/Cal fight that it would take some effort to outslug Kessler (he was beating Calzaghe at the midway point remember), and KP doesn't appear to have the skills to outbox him. Pavlik 0-3 in this one, methinks.
Yeah, that would be my ranking as well. A younger, faster and stronger prime JC would take him. But not these days. Purely on his workrate, he'd beat Hopkins and Kessler, who I think has suffered the post-Calzaghe Lacy syndrome. He may be a broken fighter. Just a hunch.
Ik he beats one it is Hopkins, but only late when Bernard tires, Personally tho I love KP rugged style and honest boxing/punching ability I dont see how he either out powere Kessler or out think/outlasts Calzaghe.
Kels beats all of those guys ... I think that Kessler is very overrated ... scared to fight Miranda ... while Kels knocked his ass out ... I think Kels beats down all those guys ... this is his time ... Maybe Kessler has the best chance of fighting him ... with Hopkins and Calzaghe trying to fight guys who are on their level experience wise. Kessler sucks ...
Have you actually seen Kessler fight? Or are you going on the fact that the fight with Miranda didn't happen, for whatever reason, and the fact that his promoter is an arsehole....... You may be forgetting the fact that Kessler was leading on the cards of most observers at the midway point, before going to sleep from rounds 6 thru 11 and losing the fight at that time. I seem to remember a rather close encounter with each fighter just edging rounds throughout.
Please don't ever ask me anything like that again ... I never commented on a fighter that i've never seen fight. I've seen Kessler v Mundine, Kessler v Beyer, Kessler v Andrade and Kessler v Calzaghe (all except for Mundine I have on tape) ... He's not that dope ... he's a good boxer, but a stand up - come forward guy ... he has a good jab, nice right hand, and decent hand speed ... but he's very stiff ... has no savvy ... and hasn't fought an elite american fighter such as Pavlik. The jury is also out on his chin ...
So you could be 75-0 with 75KO's against a selection of top mexicans, europeans, africans and asians, but because they haven't beaten an elite American you are not convinced?? atsch Or have I misread?? I think his chin is pretty good, though not granite - but I feel he has sufficient pop in his jab and other punches to be able to keep Pavlik off, just my opinion. In terms of savvy you may have a good point, but I suppose the most recent memory of him is the Calzaghe fight, in which Joe delivered his best display of savvy I have seen, and it was necessary.
Doesnt beat Wright, Hopkins, Calzaghe Possibly beats Kessler, Bute, Abraham, Froch Most likely beats Sturm, Mundine, Bika, Andrade
I think the best fight for him would be Wright - a really difficult examination, because Wright has supreme defensive skills behind a good southpaw jab. Certainly tougher than Gary Lockett anyway.
