Ward has beat better fighters than rigo. one win don't get u the p4p spot. U need a resume with big names.

Some divisions are rather mediocre. He'll never become a top 5 because he can't fight Mayweather, or at least Marquez or Pacquiao. In terms of weight, he's too far from a top division. And there aren't many these days. At least if he could fight against an opponent with big name even from a weak division.

He needs to beat someone in the top 3 p4p rankings, possibly who was voted fighter of the year 2012...

If he beat Mares or Leo Santa Cruz it'd help a lot: Mayweather, Martinez and JMM won't be around for that much longer so he could be #1 or #2 (depends on what Ward does also) if he keeps winning and those guys retire/lose.

I do not put as much weight on resume as other people here. If you are the best fighter you are the best fighter, I use record mainly as indicator of skill. I thought for a while that once floyd calls it a day it the mantle would go to Ward with donaire nipping on his heals. ( I knew Rigo was great but I never thought he would get a big break to be in contention) with this win I say the battle for Number one after floyd is ward/rigo with guys like Broner, garcia, Gamboa and Canelo filling in the top 5

  7. Because he's so small, he'll have to clean out 122 and 126 at least... Mayweather and Ward will have to either lose or retire within the next 2 years.

To be respected as the legit P4P number one he needs to fight 5 times in 6 years and to avoid all legitimate challenges because his health comes first. That's where Donaire went wrong and it's cost him big time.

people who care about talent and skill in boxing . . . which is 95% of boxing fans. People who do not care about P4P is for a reason (like they like fighters who are mindless sluggers or only are causal fans who only like one divisin like the HWs

He needs to beat a couple names at 122, than a big name at 126, then hope Floyd, JMM, Ward, and Sergio have all lost a fight.

Just gotta outlast the guys who rank above him.

Not much else he can do really, even if he has the ability to beat the likes of lsc, Garcia and mares that won't move him above the likes of mayweather and ward. He realistically needs to keep winning whilst they retire or lose.

He has to pass up too many people he can't IMO. PBF, JMM Ward and Martinez are in front of him. Also although PBF JMM and Martinez are older. I really don't see Ward losing anytime soon. He would beat anyone in boxing 175 and down.

I do not believe in the P4P concept. I think its just marketing. There is no way to measure the damn thing. It's matter of opinion. But I say Rigo will need to keep winning for at least 10 more fights to be what he wants to be.
