I don't see this at ALL. Floyd was a master of defense, used the Philly shell constantly, used a lot of movement, and liked to attack from angles. Spence is basically the opposite of every one of those. His offense is his weakest thing, sometimes uses the shell but primarily uses a high gloves position, conserves energy by minimizing movement, and he typically comes straight at you. Other than that, he's the spitting image of Floyd, I guess. Well, he IS black......
This really doesn't hold much water now. As his opp has improved he is a lot more passive and methodical than Marv was.
Lol Bandeeko. Was going to say a young Bruno but can’t really tell who he reminds me of as all the black ones look the same to me.
Spence reminds me of Tyrone Biggums from the Chapelle Show Errol Spence: This content is protected Tyrone Biggums: This content is protected
For me, his closest comparison among the best ever is Mike McCallum. He doesn't have Mike's offensive or defensive repertoire but his style of power is quite reminiscent of McCallum. He's heavy handed, athletic and accurate, which breaks people down or hurts granite chinned fighters, but I don't think it's something you'd marvel at on a 'greatest punchers of-all-time' list. He also has the good set up, the small half steps to get in range, the massiveness of his frame for the weight, his height and reach (and know-how to use them) as well as, obviously, the body punching. I like this comparison, but make no mistake, McCallum was much, much better.
Yes, Spence does get hit, but i actually think his defense is underrated. He blocked a lot of shots that Garcia threw with his gloves.
