Who does Wilder face next? (If not AJ)

    Wilder is in a tough spot if he can't get AJ next (I don't think he will). I've been waiting for AJ vs Wilder for 3 plus years. But even I think AJ should take the Big Baby fight in Brooklyn after Parker (assuming he wins). Makes too much sense and cents. Gives AJ his introduction into the American market and would create a ton of buzz for the Wilder fight. (Specially after what Wilder just did)

    There is a chance AJ would take Wilder fight next. Chance to become undisputed heavyweight champion doesnt come around very often. And I do think they both really want that chance vs each other. But the smart business move is Miller fight first. If he doesn't take the Wilder fight after then that is an official big time duck.

    But what should Wilder do? No way he rematches Ortiz. He doesn't handle southpaws well. I think it's between Whyte and Brezeale. Not sure who the mando is but it's one of them so the WBC might force it. I'd prefer Whyte because those pressers would be great. Breazeale is really durable, I'd be afraid he would hurt his hand again. I think he KOs them both.

    Here is the wild card though. Neither of these dudes would keep his momentum going after Ortiz. Mayyybeee Whyte. I vote, and I have a hunch, it's going be Povetkin. If he fought Povetkin and KO'ed him before AJ his stock might be higher then AJ going into their showdown. He stated, even before he made the Ortiz fight again, he wanted to fight Ortiz and Povetkin still to punish them for cheating.

    Why would Povetkin do it? He is AJ's mando for WBA but they aren't the strictest forcing their mando. AJ holds the cards if he made the Miller fight then most likely he would go into the Wilder fight after (unification tops mando). Povetkin isn't getting any younger. Take the chance to beat Wilder then he could get AJ for undisputed and an even bigger pay day then before.

    Gut feeling Wilder might pick Povetkin. Would be ballsie as hell. Safe money probably on Breazeale though. Anyways had to get this off my chest ha. Sorry for the length.

    Hopefully one of Povetkin, Whyte or Brezeale.

    But I have a feeling it will be Takam.

    Ideally Joshua (assuming he beats Parker), but with Hearn weighing up the option of Miller as a trans-Atlantic profile booster and Povetkin twiddling his thumbs as WBA mandatory I can see that fight being pushed back to the fall.

    Wilder probably fights one of Breazeale or Martin in the summer, but he could really do with a Pulev, Takam or Ruiz level fighter to further improve his resume. Winner of Whyte/Browne wouldn't be a bad option either.

    It won't be Povetkin it simply doesn't make sense. Wilder's MO is pretty well known, he fights other Haymon fighters, Ortiz, Molina, Szpilka, Duhaupas and Arreola were all Haymon fighters at the time of their fights with Wilder. Only the late replacement Washington and the mandatory Stiverne were not signed to Haymon.

    Wilder may now have the confidence to take risks like fighting Ortiz which may mean he'd be confident of beating Povetkin. But Haymon isn't a risk taker, he ensured he signed Ortiz before allowing Wilder and the WBC belt to be put at risk.

    Also why would Povetkin fight Wilder even if it was offered now that he is Joshua's mandatory? Their previous attempt to fight drew a purse bid of just $7.1 mill. Now Wilder's marketability has improved, he sold a 14K at the Barclays center for the first time and 1.1 mill viewers tuned in for the Ortiz fight on Showtime which makes him the biggest non PPV attraction on Showtime. But whatever Wilder/Povetkin is worth it won't make Povetkin as much as a mandatory shot at Joshua.

    Breazeale is the obvious choice. He's highly ranked, is a Haymon fighter, would provide a direct comparison with Joshua in the lead up to the unification fight.

    Hearn will likely push for Whyte to be the man to face Wilder next. He'll dangle a big payday in front of Wilder, perhaps up his offer now that Wilder has proven to be a bigger draw than before, but once again he isn't a Haymon fighter. Haymon won't risk Whyte winning and preventing him getting a share of the money when Joshua eventually unifies all the belts.

    If they don't fight each other, I think Wilder will face Martin or Breazeale and Joshua will fight Povetkin.

    povetkin vs price winner would be nice.

    but i've been expecting wilder vs breazale for some time now.

    I'm thinking Brezeale is high on the list. And if that doesn't work out they will probably take Charles Martin.
