Who does Wlad have to beat in the next 2-3 years to move up to top 5-10 ATG?

Beating helenius? Why fight chisora's leftovers?

 

Wlad's 19-2 in title fights and is only a belt away from complete unification (done the hard way, one strap at a time). Depending on the criteria, he could already be considered top 10.

Either way, the solution is clear: just keep on winning and dominating guys. Take out undefeated contenders when possible, and keep calling out the highest rated challengers. Hope some more of them actually say yes instead of stalling their own careers by waiting for him to retire.

The extent that challengers are turning down fighting a heavyweight champ is unprecedented...none of them ever had problems with contenders taking their shot like Wlad has the last few years.

 

I'm not sure who's around that can move him up.
Although I don't think highly of Alexander Povetkin. He dose hold the other half of the WBA championship. Kubrat Pulev and Denis Boytsov are the IBF & WBO #1's. I think both are going to be among the better heavyweights in the near future. I also fell that Americans Seth Mitchell and Chris Arreola are also going to be among the better heavyweights in the near future.

But it is getting ridiculous. I dont think Holy's Holmes or Foreman wins should count much on his resume (they didnt at the time) but in reality must people do count it. A name, even a shot name, in 50 years will count for something like it or not. A young top 10 with no decent wins who never amounted to anything will be forgotten before long.

This has more to do with the fact that by dodging Wlad, you can earn the same money/prestige to fight the other world champion, his older and lighter hitting brother. Or you can even dodge both and still become the world champion and earn equally as much money, as Povetkin, and before that Haye and Valuev did.

I understand and to an extent almost agree with the arguments that Wlad is no 1 in teh world, but he still isnt univerally accepted that way, and in this sense, this is what has hurt his legacy more than anything else. In reality, it is not really until he beats Vitali's conqueror or arguably Povetkin even that he can actually line up for title defence number one as many other greats have. And if you look at guys like Harry Wills or Jack Johnson or Peter Jackson or Sonny Liston, you can see there have been plenty of great pre title runs over the years. Wlads legacy, in my opinion, is still greatly undecided. It does actually make for quite interesting times from a legacy point of view.

 

If lewis comes back and beats vitali then the fight would have meaning.

Well the reality is that larry had just beaten the number 1 contender and foreman did go onto beat moorer.

I still rate Helenius quite highly. It's apparent he was injured against Chisora, which doesn't take away from Chisora's win- which was a good one, so I feel he's still a force in the division.

helenius might have talent which is cool but in a realistic ranking it needs to be backed up by resume.

Don't take it to heart, he has been reading the Kama Sutra and it has planted all kinds of things in his mind.

 

I don't think there is anything in the Kama Sutra about canine's. Unless that's where we get the term doggy style from...

 

There is nobody out there, no single person, that will do that elevating.

Double your time frame. If Wlad is STILL defending his title against 2-3 ranked contenders a year, in 4-6 years, he will be one of the most dominant champions of all time, any weight class, and will deserve a high ranking spot on the list.

I see it happening, honestly. Wlad will box at least as long as his brother, and he has less mileage. He'll age better then Vitali, and there isn't a heavyweight capable of beating him. Maybe Haye, but Haye had to go completely negative to avoid getting KOed last time...Not confident he could find it in him to suddenly perform that much better.

 

Seriously though, that might be how the boxwreck warriors of 2100 misguidedly see it.

 

Volodymyr's best way to move up the rankings is by beating the top contenders and hope that their career after he retires will enhance his legacy. If he beats a contender who goes on to hold a belt or even unify 2 or more belts it will help more than anything. If he beats six of these guys its hard to imagine that won't happen.
