I have quite a bit of free time at work these days, so I do love the General Forum to brighten up my day. It amuses me greatly to read the ridiculously childish fanboy nonsense in there, and occasionally get involved in ludicrous spats about whether PBF is the greatest atg ever etc. It's fast-moving, so quite fun. There are definitely guys in there who know very very little about boxing though, and don't appear to have much of a passion for the sport either.
I very seldom post in General. The vulgar know-nothings abound there, but much, much worse is the Lounge.
Vulgar, scatological suggestions, half-baked, pimply faced fan-boy crap. There's more than one guy there who likes to pepper his output with references to a certain member of the male anatomy.
The general forum is filled with people who are very ignorant (not all, but most) about boxing, and it is a quite a shame. I come on here to learn and read about the sport I love, not to get frustrated by some schmuck who knows nothing, but how to disrespect, or nut hug other fighters. Boxing is the ultimate sport and when posters call other fighters "quitters", "bums", "exposed", when they themselves have never been in the situation where fighters have been in, it is an insult to anybody who has ever laced on a pair of gloves.
I'm a student of the fight game, which is why I reguardly post in the Classic Forum, but I follow today's Boxing religiously. I go in the general forum to discuss today's Boxing, but unfortunately as it has already been mentioned, there are a lot of idiots there. Fanboys who have no other association with Boxing past their favourite fighter. It's a sad thing.
yeah, lots of idiots on general people know boxing much more in classic btw : I can't find a thread about buying fights on DVD, does anyone know what's the name of the thread, i'm pretty sure it was posted on classic forum not a long time ago, it suggested to PM a member (don't remember who) to have his fights list and it was cheap.. thanks
The classic forum is the place to be IMO. I don't mind some of the general regulars coming over here to post as long as they aint here mainly for a laugh and a joke and talk nonsense. The Classic always has a good feel and atmosphere about it and I would like to keep it that way.
..................I go there when I drink sometimes. It's the ESB equivalent of throwing rocks at bee's nests. The General Forum reminds me of that saying, "I'm not young enough anymore to think I know everything."
That's heavyweight Bert Whitehurst. He was in with Moore, Liston, Foster, Johnson, one of these epic journeymen that sort of slips through the cracks...got a couple of decent wins though, beat Bob Sattersfield and he beat Tunney Hunsaker.
