No it won't be a PPV not in May. Not with Brook, Froch etc likely to be fighting again on PPV around that time. remember it was supposed to be Brook headlining on PPV with Clev-Bellew chief support before his incident.
Looks like it will be ppv as Hearn has said in interviews Stadium fights are ppv. Would be a **** take
I hope Sky reign Hearn in if they are calling the shots. Froch vs DeGale with a decent undercard, fair enough that's getting towards PPV worthy. But effectively a British Title level main event isn't PPV, however good the undercard is.
Mate Sky are just as bad. On Ringside the other day they were touting a potential Groves v Callum Smith as Wembley stadium worthy.
The date is 30th of May. That's over 7 months away. A long time for Campbell to be fighting no hopes or not fighting at all, all for the sake of a domestic scrap. Coyle isn't even in the top 4 lightweights in the country, why not just do the fight in January at a smaller venue. Just when you thought Campbells career couldn't get any more disappointing...
The problem is that Hull doesn't have a mid size venue. The ice arena is too small and the KC stadium I believe is too big. I can't see the date being the 30th May altho I know Eddie has said it will be. That weekend is the rugby league magic event which will see both Hull rugby clubs take a huge following to watch out of the city. Eddie won't want to lose 20,000 rugby fans from the city who potentially are punters for the boxing also. The fight can't happen anywhere other than Hull as it doesn't sell decent tickets in another city. The fight will be in a stadium, Eddie doesn't have an alternative, the date needs to fit around the football and rugby fixtures and therefore January isn't an option. Will it be PPV? I think Eddie will try, purely because of the costs involved in hiring the KC. It would need to be a cracking card tho, Campbell v Coyle Joshua v Chisora or Price Crolla v Mitchell As the 3 main fights might just make it a reasonable PPV
