Who else could James Buster Douglas beat?

Excellent post. I wouldn’t go quite that far myself but different strokes for different folks. I do think Tokyo Douglas as he was, was a top ten H2H heavy…. But ONLY that night.

 

It depends on if those guys had sex before fighting him.

Tyson gets a pass because he lost his virginity in Tokyo and never had sex before any fight he won.

The result doesn’t count, so Tokyo Douglas doesn’t exist. Any Tyson fan will tell you this is so.

 

Prime Foreman got outboxed by Jimmy Young.

 

Jimmy Young could beat Douglas, both are overrated, but Tokyo Douglas is getting a bit more overrated. He's not some h2h top 10, Tyson wasn't as concentrated like normal and Douglas's tactics were just a bad style for him

 

Styles make fights, like you said. Plus Douglas wasn't 100% either, so no excuses.

 

He promised his mom he would defeat Tyson. Tyson partied the night before and getting high. He didn't care about Douglas at all. It's a mixed bag.

 

If Mike lost someone in his close cirle, that would be another excuse to why he lost. Also, Buster Douglas was fighting sick on antibiotics, with his baby momma being in the hospital for potentially fatal kidney failure. And he still whooped that ass.

 

I think he would have an entertaining fight with Michael Moorer or Leon Spinks

 

Motivation by grief is real and he likely wasn't fighting sick or the fight would've been delayed like the Holyfield fight. Those antibiotics must've brought him back to full health considering he looked better than ever before. Busters tactics were the main factor but Tyson looked uninterested even by the live observers and commentators, this isn't a post fight hindsight

I agree… Buster Douglas is becoming overrated on this site …and strangely enough …Evander Holyfield has become underrated
