Who else could Wladimir have fought instead of Mormeck?

He's pretty much cleaned out the HW division a while ago. He can keep putting on a show for the German audience if that makes them happy, but for me I think a fight with Vitali is the only competitive matchup out there.

 

It's OK to box a bum like Mormeck. Wlad doesn't have a whole lot of ATGs to chose from.

But.. and that's the thing. He has to start decapitating these bums like the bums they are. One, two, three round knockouts. That's how these nobodies have to be dealt by a guy with Wlad's skillset and physique.

 

Far too many legitimate fights could have been made in place of this.

Only a wlad hater would think this is a good fight. Anyone else can appreciate it is a total mismatch and his worst opponent in years.

It's marginally better than a fight against ray austin.

There's some truth to this, but in the future when he's retired most people won't remember details like how many rounds a fight went before the stoppage. It would be one thing to go life and death with Mormeck, but simply to dominate the fight from the first round to a late stoppage won't really hurt his legacy. He'll be criticised now for keeping the fight going for too long (which he'll likely do) but that won't matter in 20 years as long as JMM doesn't see the final bell

Whoever he fought, it won't be better than Mormeck. The division is as good as this.

 

You know the thing with Austin was that he was a mandatory if I recall correctly. Through Don King's shenanigans. So can't really blame Wlad for fighting Austin. He had to.

At least Austin was a tall mofo, and he could bang. Plus he talked some good trash. But Mormeck? Fails in all departments. A midget who has zero punch. The only recourse for Wlad is to brutally knock him out, and early so. A sadistic beatdown from the first bell, then knock him through the ropes and celebrate the slaughtering.

For his late-stage resume it's about time Wlad collected some brutal decapitations like Lennox did with Grant, Rahman II, Golota and Botha.
