Arreola is apparently next in their sites.

I predict Wlad will make him cry, but not as quickly as Vitali did.

Even a Haye rematch would have been better to be honest.

Here's a fairly incomplete list of guys who either (a) were more deserving than Mormeck or (b) who I would have rather watched Wlad beat up than Mormeck (list created with the help of some others, but I don't really disagree with it):

I'm sure there are quite a few I've forgotten.

H/T to Scott Christ for starting most of the list.

Even if 2/3 of those were impossible or are jokes, there are still 30 or so better feasible fights than one against a shot small cruiserweight whose best uncontroversial win in the last 5 years came against Vinny Maddalone.

Arreola would step up and fight him and the fight wold go the distance. Wlad wouldn't score his 50th KO which was the set in for this picked up opponent.

You are aware nearly this entire list wouldn't fight Wlad, right? Yeah, okay.

And on a list of 115 people, I'm sure there are at least a dozen or so who are better.

Realistically, the following are better fights with people who have said that they want to fight him (or guys who would completely jump at the payday opportunity):

    - Cris Arreola
    - Franklin Lawrence
    - Antonio Tarver
    - Oliver McCall
    - Fres Oquendo (who beat Mormeck more convincingly than Chisora beat Helenius)
    - Eddie Chambers rematch
    - Tony Thompson rematch
    - Bermane Stiverne
    - Chauncy Welliver
    - Mike Perez
    - Francisco Pianeta
    - Guillermo Jones
    - Sam Sexton
    - Martin Rogan
    - Maurice Harris
    - Evander Holyfield
    - Jonathon Banks (he IS a K2 fighter after all)
    - Alexander Ustinov (same)
    - Ola Afolabi (same, and who is at least a close to prime cruiserweight)
    - Deontay Wilder (who while he stinks, is still better than Mormeck, and he has been calling out Wlad misguided fashion)
    - James Toney is marginal - probably no better than Mormeck - but at least he would have landed more than 2 punches

And who the hell even knows about guys like Pulev, Pala, Wach, Wawrczyk, Leapai, Mitchell, Hanks, etc. I'd guess that, while none of those guys are ready, half of them would jump at the chance to earn a huge payday of the likes that most of them will probably never otherwise be able to get.

Now, I know you'll tell me a lot of those guys are crappy, and that's true, but they're better than Mormeck. This isn't just an after the fact analysis. I've been chiding this fight for months now. This was, bar none, the worst legitimate matchup that could possibly have been made.

Literally the first guy on your list that you'er reiterating openly, publicly stated he wasn't ready before Wlad made the Mormeck fight.

Exactly. I hate when people make these lists of fighters Wladimir coulda/shoulda fought and list fighters that said NO, or clearly wouldn't have fought him anyway.

Let's make a REALISTIC list of the top fighters in the division and see what it looks like, I'll use ESPN's Top 10 rankings.

    1. Wladimir Klitschko (can't fight himself)

    2. Vitali Klitschko (or his brother)

    3. Alexander Povetkin (Turned Wlad down multiple times)

    4. Toney Thompson (Wlad's upcoming mandatory, Wlad already KO'd him)

    5. Tomaz Adamek (after losing to VItali, I doubt he's ready to step in with Wlad, doesn't make sense for K2 either)

    6. Cris Arreola (turned Wladimir down, they'll probably fight in September)

    7. Helenius (his "people" turned down the original Dec date, and now Helenius is injured)

    8. Ruslan Chagaev (Wlad already KO'd)

    9. Derek Chisora (just lost to Vitali...I could see this fight in the future)

    10. Alexander Dimitrenko (injured elbow, don't know if he'd take the fight anyway)

kali meehan was ranked 1 spot higher than mormeck.

at least he has size, power and balls.

    mormeck had nothing.
