Who else could Wladimir have fought instead of Mormeck?

And the Mormeck fight was postponed back in December (and very well could have been cancelled, like Wlad twice cancelled fights with Chisora), after this. And if you want me to dig back further, I'm sure I can find earlier instances of Arreola calling them out. So unless YOU can find something to back up your substanceless claim, STFU. I'm providing facts, the Klit nuthuggers are just making wild assertions.

If anyone honestly thinks Mormeck is the best fight that could have been made, then you probably deserve getting to watch a **** show like that. There are literally dozens of fights that would have been better and were makeable. If he was just looking for the biggest name, then why not fight Holyfield, who is not only less shot than Mormeck and a bigger name than Mormeck, but recently beat the same guys Mormeck struggled to get past much more convincingly. And it only goes uphill from there.

This was equivocal to, say, Manny Pacquiao announcing that his next fight will be against Joel Casamayor. That too would be a fight against someone who's barely had an uncontroversial win in a decade, whose best weight was 20 pounds lower and who's been completely shot for at least five years.

Prove it. Blind assertions prove nothing. And once again, that was before the fight was postponed. If you really think it couldn't have been cancelled like Wlad has alreeady done 4 times in the last 3 years when he's gotten hurt during training camp, then you're fooling yourself.

Chris Arreola Doesn't Want Klitschko Next, Harshly Criticizes Himself

There were no fights of Arreola between that and Mormeck being made. None. And Wlad only wanted to fight the guy he agreed to fight, who had the balls to sign when he damn well should have. Arreola didn't want it before and it's so "substanceless" it's on your website, lol.

Fair enough. But you do have to admit that Arreola started calling out Klitschko before he got injured and had to cancel the first Mormeck fight. And Marco Huck started calling them out before then as well. Either one undoubtedly was more deserving and would have made a better fight.

But for fun, let's go back to who he could have signed to fight in August. He could have fought Chisora, who he'd already cancelled fights with twice before. He could have fought Toney, although honestly I don't think that one's any better than Mormeck. Chambers and Thompson were in line to fight for a mandatory and he could have gotten one of them out of the way. Evander Holyfield has been calling him out for years, and while I would have hated that fight too, there's just no way to spin Mormeck as a better fight than Holyfield.

I realize there weren't any guys in the top 10 who were available who he hadn't already beaten. But that's not an excuse to go after someone who probably wasn't even top 50.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH BOXING TODAY, & NOT JUST THE HW DIVISION.

Once a fighter reaches top-20 status for any governing body, there should be mandatory fights with the other top-20, plus the champ. If a fighter refuses, he should be banned (by that governing body) from fighting either another top-20 fighter or the champ (depending upon which fight he refused) for, say, 2 years.

This was sort of a defacto thing way back when, when the WBC was the only real authority. Nowadays, sheesh... it really, really sucks.

Also, of course, 2 fighters shouldn't be allowed to split the entire list of contenders between them, without fighting each other. HTF did THAT ever get accepted as OK?

^ And some kind of similar rule should be in place for contenders. One of the reasons Boytsov, Wilder, and the like aren't fighting good opponents is because no one wants to get into the ring with them. There must be rules in place that FORCE good matches.

This would be simple if the governing bodies wanted it to happen. But of course....

mormeck isn't even top 30 at heavyweight.....out of the at least 30 better heavyweights I'm sure at least a handful of them were available and willing there was no excuse for this pathetic fight.

Wlad has the majority of heavyweights noided. It's hard to criticize
when fighters are coming out answering no in the press or saying
give me 3,4,5 fights and I'll be ready. I place more blame on Wlad and
Vitali's comp than Wlad and Vitali.
