I found it sad to watch the faded legend beat like that just as many did for Roy Jones against Calzaghe, Tyson against Lewis (and his fights after that) and of course with Ali to the hands of Holmes.
I dreaded hearing people bashing De La Hoya for not coming out for the 9th round was it? They should've pulled him out a round or 2 earlier in my opinion but he shown a lot of heart and wanted to go on until it looked like the doctor and his cornermen advised him not to.
To say he was a fraud or never turned up for big fights isn't true or fair. No matter why you hate him he did a lot for boxing and a gap will be left.
I'm enjoying this great, great win for Pacquiao, I'm a fan of both Pac and De La Hoya so I was more of a neutral if anything and I'm glad we can now get very excited over Pac versus Hatton.
This week I have been watching some great De La Hoya fights such as Chavez 1, Whitaker and Mosley 1 and I think this is a time to appreciate a great career and get excited for what could happen in the rest of Pacquiao's career. As the Sky team said something along the lines of - the end of one chapter, the start of a new one.

I agree with every word. Oscar is a credit to Boxing, and has been, I just hope he retires now. He's got nothing to prove.

Why not be a fan of both? I don't often say I'm a fan of such and such a person, I'm a fan of boxing but fair enough. De La Hoya looked very nervous before the fight, as much as Pacquiao looked relaxed.

DLH may hand pick people and didnt fight certain people, didnt grant rematches in close fights....but with all that said, he took his ass kicking like a man and earned his 30 plus million he is prob gonna make. hes got balls. like him or not.

Maybe he thought it was wise for his corner to stop the fight..he wanted to live long enough to enjoy his $30M with his family..Serioulsly, no amount is worth risking his life for more beatings
