He was an everyman for British boxing fans. He just came across as one of the lads, and was a pretty solid fighter to boot... A bit of a scrapper, but enjoyable to watch. Mayweather still hasn't had a fight as interesting since Ricky either, in my opinion. I suppose you could make a case for the Mosley bout, but for sheer effort and atmosphere, I don't think there's been a FMJ fight since that compares.
Not annoying at all. He brought fans into boxing and that's what the sport needs. How many fans do you think the likes of Ward, Hopkins or Ruiz etc.. gained the sport? Fuck all, that's what. Ricky fought to the limits of his ability, which is a thing people whine about constantly on here with other fighters not doing so. Who cares if he got fat and/or was on drugs, I ****ing don't! He had a crowd pleasing style and never let his fans down, ever.
Theres only oooooooooooone Ricky Hatton!!!! Oooooooooooone Ricky Hatton, Walking along, singin a song, walkin in a Hatton wonderland........................ What did he do to annoy you? He hasnt done anything that annoys me other than crapping on about the tough times...... He deserved to be recognised as he was good in his prime.
Britain needs a boxer that can recapture the magic of the Mayweather vs Hatton weigh in/fight night..
I liked him. He seemed to have a great personality, gave a great effort against Floyd, and was pretty funny in HBO's 24/7. Outside of the ring he was another story. It's sad to see such an easygoing individual be haunted by vices. The boxers that I find to be annoying are Broner, Khan, and not too long ago Floyd.
He had a fanbase that overrated the **** out of him. They still do actually. All in all he was a low skilled brawler who wrestled his way through the few good wins he had. Massively overrated by brittards because he is just as ugly as they all are.
Hatton/Floyd was such a great event to me and honestly the Brits really had alot to do with it.....thank you Hatton
