Wasn't the most talented boxer but was great entertainment most of the time, the build up to the Mayweather fight was brilliant and Ricky is hilarious at times. It's a shame that he abuses himself now that he doesn't fight anymore but it's up to him what he does with his life now, easily the most popular British Fighter in recent times imo.
Yeah it was cool of him to beat down his dad to a pulp and prevent his parents from seeing their own grandchildren. It was cool of him to cheat on the mother of his children multiple times. It was cool of him to be snorting lines and drinking himself into oblivion between fights. If being cool now means being a scumbag, then certainly ricky is the coolest of them all.
So if Ricky beat his Dad to a pulp why did the Police arrest his Dad after they viewed the CCTV footage?
CCTV footage showed Ray had Ricky out on his feet with a left hook until Billy Graham stepped in and pulled them apart because Ricky's shoelaces were "untied". Gave him enough time to regain his senses before the police arrived and broke it up.
Say what you want about Ricky but he was very good for boxing, He's very likeable. Always well spoken and a Gentleman. Housewife's and old Grannies know who he is. Say's it all about his popularity. I don't know how you can criticise him for his fanatical support, he drew big from the football scene. Thats what they sound like, 30,000 converging in vegas. How is that a bad thing? Who else draws that many fans from abroad? Cracking fighter even if he wasnt the best, Always came forward, Always throwing, Always getting hit. I just hope he can find peace in life now. Good luck to him.
he was a massive draw due to his "one of the lads" persona. has/could any other fighter take 20-30k travelling support from their home country (not expats) half way round the world for a fight like he did?
Hatton was damn good. Didn't have a long run at the top, but he made it there and proved not a fluke. I think the Hatton chant is classic. I love it, honestly, and I can admit that I tend not to like British fans.
Ricky had a good personality until he realised he had a good personality. He saw it as a great way to market himself but ended up completely overdoing the cheeky chappy persona. He became a caricature of himself. He was likeable but became a self aggrandizing bullshitter and as such a bit annoying. Then he got whacked.
I loved watching him fight but....there are some things I cannot forgive. I'll turn a blind eye to fighters who run dog-fights, use drugs, pimp, and flush money down the toilet... but saying "ickle"... I hope the Etihad explodes and falls on him.
you found Hatton annoying because of a chant his fans came up with? :huh it's not his fault they came up with the song.
I did. Hatton was so overrated. He got an embarassing KO. It was great to see him ending up like that.
