A near prime Liston, prime Frazier and prime Foreman...yikes...I concur that Louis is the only likely one to replicate.

Lennox was first name to come to mind although 5 - 1 -0 would be very difficult to replicate.

It was when Ali was green it was not the same version, he was a kid it was not the samething at all.
Actually what i said has a lot to do. Louis had a slow foorwork and his chin was not the best if you add to this that he has to face an all time great puncher and finisher bigger, stronger with a better chin than him and.. Bad news for louis

Louis, Lewis and Wlad would by my top 3. I'd genuinely be quite optimistic about all 3 of their chances as well, given that each fighter can drop one fight. I want to throw in Holmes, but stylistically Frazier is a nightmare and Holmes-Foreman has always been a genuine 50-50 fight in my mind with compelling arguments for both sides. No disrespect here, but I don't think the Liston fights need to be in the discussion, it will always be a grey area and again, I'm not trying to belittle Liston or Ali here, but seeing how overwhelmed Liston was I'd have no problem heavily favouring the 3 I listed in both fights. These thoughts of mine are of course aided with hindsight

I don't know if anyone would.

Louis then Lewis would be my top 2 picks.

Lennox Lewis does, he loses to Liston of 59 but I reckon he'd beat all of them at the time Ali beat them

Joe Louis and Lennox Lewis would be my choices.
Holyfield would fight them all tough but probably goes 3-3

I would not pick Louis to go 5-1, but I agree with the first part of the posts.

Much depends on if you think Liston took a dive.

I don’t think we really know enough about their skill set to give them the credit of being able to accomplish such a task.

Honestly foreman and going 2 for 3 with Frazier is already a pretty small list.

Am I in the minority if I favour Foreman against Louis?

If "you have to make them the same age as Ali when each fight takes place, or at least make the fights the same distance apart." then:

Joe Louis from Sharkey fight against Liston
Joe Louis from Braddock fight against Liston
Joe Louis from Abe Simon fight against Frazier
Joe Louis from Johnny Davis fight against Frazier
Joe Louis from second Billy Conn fight against Foreman
Joe Louis from Joe Walcott fight against Frazier

Honestly, he could repeat that. He would have a tough time against Liston for the first time, but he was experienced enough to do that. Then he'd win rematch and I think that that version of Louis wouldn't beat Foreman. It also all depends on how he'd fare against Frazier, but I think that in the last two fights Louis would be the favorite.

I favor peak, young Louis over Foreman but the older, slower and more methodical version would likely lose against George.
