    embarrassment and one-sided shellacking Joe C. administered to him in their fight?

    I do.

    As much as I despise Calzaghe and his annoying showboating, and in spite of how much I like Jones, I thought he really deserved that one.

    He could have fought Calzaghe in his prime, and would have probably embarrassed him, but he did not. Then, he faced him when he knew he is past his physical prime, and maybe just because of money. What was he thinking?

    Are you serious? When did he have the chance to fight Joe before? It was Joe who never sought a fight with him.

    He could have any fight if he wanted to.

    With his talent and the HBO behind him, it was possible.

    I think Calzaghe took it a bit to far.

    But having said that Jones Jnr did it to nough people throughout his career so maybe he did.

    I think you've allowed time to skew your perception of the past. You're forgetting the days when Joe was a virtual unknown defending his WBO strap against nobodies here in the UK. Jones had absolutely no incentive to fight him.

    i see what your saying and if you mean, "did jones get his just desserts for humiliating other fighters over the years" then no i don't agree but i see your point. if it's "did he deserve a beating from calzaghe for not fighting him when he would've done the beating" then no of course not. calzaghe wasn't a blip on the radar and he just happened to find the perfect foil in lacy to hit it big right when jones was on the slide. when they finally met, jones had hit the bottom of that slide. calzaghe wasn't fit to tie jones shoes and to have him administer a beating is sad. it's like me being the boxing champion of my backyard, beating on my drunk buddies during BBQ's. then claiming that kelly pavlik is ducking me cause he won't come to my neighbourhood, waiting 20 years til he's retired and old, then hitting him upside the head with a brick and claiming i'm the new champ. having calzaghe do what he did was pathetic, as pathetic as his fans acting like it means anything

    jones dominated a ton of people and did the same to them over the years and even they probably didn't get any enjoyment out of seeing a fallen legend, why should anyone else?

    Yep, that's basically the issue. Jones has done it to others, but on the other hand I hate to see it anyhow, because a prime Jones would decapitate anyone who stuck their chin out for him.

    I don't. He was just giving Glass Jaw Roy a piece of his own medicine. Hell look at all the bums Jones used to taunt and showboat against back in the day he was even showboating against Sheika for crist sakes! Jones is a fraud and a joke and I loved every minute of that embarrassing loss for him.

    Why was it OK for Jones to showboat and act like a clown with all the no hopers he fought back in the day but it is not OK for Calzaghe to do it to him?

    :lol::rofl:patsch

    this is the ONLY point i see. yeah, jones humiliated a lot of guys

    here's the difference for me and feel free to disagree: when jones did it, that was his style. that was his ring personality that made to cover his lack of killer instinct

    when calzaghe did it, it was designed to humiliate an opponent that constantly took the limelight and accolades that joe c never got and never deserved. he was taking all his career frustrations out on jones

    when i saw the fight i thought joe c. was even supprised himself at how easily he was beating jones, i don't think he would have been showboating against jones in 1998. one more fyi: after getting ROBBED in korea jones said he wouldn't fight overseas again, and joe didn't want to come to the u.s. who knows what would have happened before rjj was a shot fighter.
