Who else here think that Roy Jones, Jr just deserved the beating..

Punch resistance of Froch?, give me a ****ing break man, what are you clueless?

The first step up Froch had everyone said he has a granite chin and whatever, when you step up all that goes out the window and as far as I remember he was nearly OUT from a single power punch Jermain landed. Froch got up semi dazed and jelly legged, Jermain just didn't follow up in fear of running out of gas early and getting KO'd in return.

Froch never fought anyone that would throw and KEEP throwing punches from odd angles nonstop for 12 rounds, we're talking 1,000+ punches which WILL land. Froch's defense isn't better than Lacy, if anything I would consider Lacy's defense even better.

Lacy had an iron chin and if you remember the very first round with Calzaghe it was Lacy rocked/wobbly from a few punches.

 

So you criticize JT for not getting Froch out of there but it's fine for future hall of famer JC to not get LAcy out of there when he had him "rocked/wobbly" in the 1st round? Scooby doo isn't half as confused as you mate. Your logic is .... flawed.

 

What are you talking about exclamation marks for you idiot , lets look at the facts the Carl Froch who fought Dodson , Pascal , Taylor (for sure) would have been completley out classed by the Calzaghe that fought Hopkins and Jones Jr (before you say it i know Jones was past his best) , and they are Froch's best wins ...........

So instead of saying cop out bollocks put some facts down on paper as to why your deluded in thinking your man could of beaten Calzaghe .

Added to that this is predominantly an Amercan based forum , and Amercans when talking about Carl Froch reply Carl who ????????

Yeah, I remember the Americans and Taylor all saying "Carl who" right before Taylor got KTFO. Oh yeah, he gassed right. LOL

 

How i saw it.

Jones jnr has that type of personality and its in his style and nature.

Calzaghe isnt as loud or brash as Jones and it was fun at first but he took it to far in the respect that, imo anyway, it got a little old even if it was only for 8 rounds or so. I would rather of seen Calzaghe close the show and force a stoppage instead of showing the man up.

 

Calzaghe's a *****. Never fought anyone until more than 13 years into his career. Lacy has been proven to be ruined, and Hopkins was past it, in his forties; Jones was shot. Kessler's the best name on Calzaghe's resume right now, and that all hangs on what Kessler does in this tournament.

This is like saying Ali deserved the beating he got from Larry Holmes because he beat up and humiliated Patterson and Terrell. :-(

 

Look man, Calzaghe his self OPENLY admitted that fighting Jones back then would have been too much risk/loss with little money to gain so it was turned down. You're not going to come here and tell me Calzaghe would have beaten both, have you seen any of Jones in his prime?, he would have wiped the floor with Jones back then and it doesn't take knowledge in boxing to see it either. Jones floored him and made it look competitive being 39 coming off brutal losses and KOs WAY past his best. Hopkins arguably beat him(not in my opinion) being 43 and also dropped him and hurt him numerous times during the fight.

Ever wondered why Calzaghe all of a sudden agreed to travel out of Wales when it was IMPOSSIBLE to do if you asked him a few years back?, the answer is easy. Easy money fighting old washed up guys to sugar coat his record. It had NOTHING to do with Warren, Warren mentioned this in Calzaghe's face that he got him the offers and Calzaghe wanted NONE of them if he had to travel for it. To quote Calzaghe in "No Average Joe", watch that British documentary it will teach you a thing or two, "I'm a champion, if they want me let them come to me". Sure because the WBOgus means more than the IBF title Lacy packed and brought with him or the WBC/WBA titles Kessler had to pack and bring with him too.

You know there's an issue when a guy like Kessler comes and starts to unify in a division Joe considered "his" whilst holding and hugging a WBOgus. Sure, we give him a pass for ducking Jones, Hopkins and many others in their primes, why not attempt to unify?, why did he have to wait for Lacy and Kessler to carry belts to his backyard for him?

Look, I love Calzaghe's boxing ability. The guy is A+ class and would give anyone put against him doom even if he's losing, a scrub can't throw fast as lightening punches for 12 rounds nonstop in odd angles with serious underrated power. Oh and he had the defense/movement as well. But when it comes to resume there's just too many question marks and he's the one to blame for it. Why did he never make it close to P4P#1?, the highest he hit was #2 and MANY people argued Marquez deserves it more. You're going to tell me it's because he's British and not American?, well guess what?, P4P#1 is from the Philippines, he's not American either, and the one Joe C was competing with is from Mexico for the #2 spot, he's not American either.

 

Another useless one liner , you might struggle on this forum my friend as people like to state facts and ignore comments made by un educated so called boxing fans like you .

I'm not criticizing Jermain for nothing, we all know Jermain has stamina issues that's why he never followed up. Watch that third round, Froch was put down/hurt from a single punch and was literally out of it getting up. If you can't see that then your vision is flawed.

 

My man. I don't get involved in these Calzaghe debates anymore but you've summed it up perfectly there. And I'm from England by the way.

It wasn't that long ago that America didn't have the 1st clue who Joe C was either. At least Froch is taking the big fights on American soil quickly following his champion status. Also Froch is what? 25 fights. Comparing him to Calzaghe at 40 plus fights is nonsense. Froch does have a lot to learn and I'm not comparing him to "prime" Calzaghe, but Joe wasn't the fighter he was at the end of his career when he was on 25 fights either and it took him a lot longer to fight guys of Taylors Caliber. I didn't get on this thread to hate on Joe either because as I posted previously I am a huge fan. I just wish he had done more and proved himself earlier.
