I gave Hopkins the first 4 rounds and then rounds 6 and 10. Those 6 rounds plus the knockdown in the first round = 115-114 for B-Hop. I was amazed at how much Calzaghe missed with his punches. Yes, he was moving forward and throwing a lot but his aggression was not very effective. Conversely, Hopkins was very accurate with his punches despite throwing fewer. It's landing punches which count, correct?
honestly.... B-hop won the fight, but at the same time he didn't and the reason i say that is because B-hop landed the most effective punches, in fact he landed more punches but the judges probabbly counted Calzaghes slaps as punches....and thats probabbly why they gave the win to Calzaghe so i had B-hop clearly winning the fight.....but at the same time i didn't count the slaps only the punches, because at the end of the day anyone can land slaps, thats not boxing....the point is to punch, and hit without being hit and i thought that Bernard was clearly doing a better job of that, but if you count Calzaghes slaps then yes.....Calzaghe outpointed Bhop, so i guess it all depends really, but to me imo a slap shouldn't count as a punch
I didn't, the fight wasn't close. It was 8-4 Calzaghe if you were being generous to Hopkins. Calzaghe did land many of those punches, btw, especially his jab.
ah not this **** again:-( just drop it yank calzaghe won fair and square, hopkins was lucky to even get an sd because of the corrupt american judges
The landing punches count and Calzaghe landed 110 more, therefore he won. That's the deal. It is amazing how Calzaghe-haters started the revision of B-Hop-Calzaghe after Hopkins schooled Pavlik...
You are correct. There was a guy on here yesterday saying the fight was 9 rounds to 3 for Calzaghe. It boggles the mind. Calzaghe didn't even land 9 clean punches the entire night!
GTFO.... how has hopkins beating kelly pavlik suddenly brought all the groupies to the front of the stage screaming for a rematch and claiming he won for **** sake you ******ed tools i watched it then and i knew joe won it,i watched it again about a month ago and just fail to see how hopkins won its embarrassing to even sugest so you clingons get a ****ing life. listen to ledderman and foreman comentating on it they saw what i did, joe did what he had to and neutralized hopkins after getting to grips with him early on.4 rounds to hopkins 7 to joe and 1 even. the only reason you hark on about it is the flash knockdown, thats boxing its generally what happens duhhhhhhhhhhh...
9-3 Calzaghe and 6-6 were the extremes of reasonable scoring in my opinion. I had it 7-5 Calzaghe at the time and I have no reason to change that view.
It was close. But Hopkins should have been disqualified or at least lost points for headbutts, holding and faking low blows.
what a suprise the trogladite of esb crawls from under bhops testicles for a breath of fresh air to chew on joes scrotum.

At least Calzaghe had the good grace to acknowledge that it was a crap fight and basically apologized to the fans. BHop couldn't give a toss - he's only interested in number 1.
Well scored, I had it very similiar. Hopkins unquestionably won this fight. As has been said; Calzaghe simply did not land punches, and was extremely ineffective. I had to give Calzaghe rounds when it didn't seem right - and he still lost on my scorecard. When the going got tough Joe Calzaghe simply did not have the tools to put any leather on Hopkins. I don't know if Pavlik landed more than Calzaghe (he may have), but Pavlik certainly landed some better shots than Calzaghe managed, no question. (I'll check on the total numbers very soon. I encourage others to do the same.)
