I fancy Kovalev. The recency bias works against Jones Jr and I've got Enzo Maccarinelli thoughts on my mind. Have to think back to prime Roy Jones Jr. I don't know, I'd still fancy Kovalev.

Anyway, this thread gives me something to do on title bout as I wait for WWE to start. Going to run prime Jones vs the light heavyweight division and see how it goes.

You do know southpaw Derek Acorah caught him loads with the southpaw jab. Reminded me of the first Tarver fight. Though Harmon doesn't have Tarvers's power and seems to smother some of his own work on the inside.

Tarver
Hill
Griffin
Nunn
R Johnson

Rick Frazier was a low level mandatory that Roy fought before he unified against Reggie Johnson.

 

Yes, they would be on the list.

I'd put Nunn alongside R Johnson though. He was still a good fighter, but his best days were long gone. He wasn't the same fighter who'd fought Toney, as you'd know if you'd followed his career and seen him at SMW.

In terms of ability, Tarver would definitely be on the list, but he only started appearing in the top 3 rankings in the early 00's. He didn't turn pro until 1997, and he lost his first fight to Harding in 2000. So he was a top 3 guy from 2001 onwards on most people's lists.
