Who said foregone conclusion? You asked the question would they catch Roy. Southpaw Tarver & Harmon immediately sprung to my mind.

Tarver was a top 3 LHW at the end of Roy's reign.

 

I'm not taking it personal, but it's frustrating going back and forth in this manner, when we could have a great debate.

There was Dariusz, and then Tarver and about 4/5 others, were all on a similar level.

In my opinion, there wasn't a clear cut top 3.


If you're asking for official rankings of the time, then they were interchangable, depending on the timeframe.

IF he'd have caught Roy like Tarver did, it'd have been lights out. But I think the best versions of Roy at LHW, would have been far too fast for him. I think Roy's speed would have given him a nightmare.

Yes, Tarver caught him. But only once out of 3 fights, and again, Roy had slowed at that point.

If you're using Tarver's knockout as some sort of evidence, then personally, I think it's pretty weak evidence.

Why don't you go and watch some more of Adonis' fights, as well as some of Roy's from the mid to late 90's.

If you put both guys under the microscope, I think it's only logical to have favoured Roy. That's not to say Adonis couldn't have won, but I think Roy would have been a clear favourite. Let's not pretend that Adonis takes everyone out. He doesn't. And again, he's been stopped before, and he's never fought anybody like Roy at all. He hasn't fought anyone who even resembled Roy.

Again, I can't really say who the top 3 were during Roy's 7 year reign.

Harmon? Derek Harmon was a keep busy fight in 2001. Roy was in cruise control, and made the fight look like a sparring session.

Are you sure you've got the right fighter?


Yes, Tarver caught him. And? It doesn't mean Adonis would have done, especially if he'd have fought the versions of Roy who fought Hill and Reggie etc.
