Based on the ability that he had.

The hilarious thing here, is that if Roy had beaten Dariusz with ease, you'd have dismissed it as a nothing win, whilst claiming he ducked someone else.

 

I said 'decent to fair ' in my description of them. How is that dismissive?

 

Yes, & a good weather gauge in forming that opinion is how Roy fared against his peers. Who where his peers?

Again: Kovalev and Ward are the only guys who were better than the ones in Roy's era.

 

Prime Roy would beat all of the current Light Heavyweights. And, against most of them, he would make it look easy. Just like he did against the opponents he did fight. Kovalev and Ward would be no walk in the park, but, he still beats them both. Neither of those men have encountered anything close to the speed and skills of prime RJJ. Quite frankly, Jones may even stop Kovalev. Ward would likely see the final bell. But, he wouldn't like what the scorecards said when he got there. Even in Oakland.

 

Roy's scalp of Virgil Hill alone, is better than any name you mentioned, and I'd pick a prime Virgil to beat everyone
at LHW, including Ward and Kovalev.

Griffin I'd pick to beat everyone you mentioned except Kovalev (problems with tall, rangy "elite" boxers) and Ward though I'd give him a fair chance with Ward as he fights on the inside and Griffin was great on the inside,
Darius, it's a shame the fight didn't happen but that's just as much his fault as Roy's.

Some of Roy's opponents were fairly pedestrian but to mention Joe Smith, Fonfara, Chilemba, Alvarez, Sullivan Barrera and Pascal as somehow heads and tails over Roy's opponents is laughable to say the least.

 

The 5 best ones in Roys era to suggest he runs through this?

 

Seriously, did you not see his career unfold?

Look at the guys he beat.

Look at how he beat most of them.

Look at the skills he possessed.

He doesn't need a Kovalev type opponent on his resume, in order to form an objective opinion on how a fantasy fight against the likes of Kovalev may have played out.

The evidence is there. The skill, the speed, the power and the reflexes etc.

 

He beats Ward, Kovalev, Stevenson, Beterbiev... Based on what? Who's he beat comparable to those 4?

Roy fought a lot of fights like Grant, Hall, Frazier, Kelly, etc at LHW. Those fights didn't prove anything. He was knocked cold by the two best opponents he fought at LHW. Roy got that Glass Jaw shattered. The LHW division Roy fought in was extremely weak and mediocre.

 

We all saw Roy's Glass Jaw get shattered. He didn't fight one person with the punching power of Kovalev in any weight class he fought in.

 

'Fantasy' fights don't ever play out.. You do know that don't you? LOL

 

Rjj was at his physical best at 168, we all saw at lhw one of his ex sparring partners (pathetic opponent) put rjj on his back and rjj struggled down the stretch. He did a great job of hiding his chin for what , decade ? He didn't have close to the chin to last with many of the top lhw's.

Rjj has now got his tysonesque myth coming into play. He didn't get old over night, Tarver beat the **** out of him fight1, that was the end of Roy's career. Enough said
