Who else thinks a prime RJJ beats the whole LHW division

Johnson vs Collins was a very close highly competitive affair. I've only seen it once and that was a long time ago but at the time I felt like Collins edged it. Johnson won a MD in his own country by scores of 115-113, 114-114, 115-114. That's how close the judges had it.

Johnson was obviously talented and a good fighter, but he was better at MW and wasn't a natural LHW nor a savage puncher (and we all know about Roy's aversion to facing savage punchers).

Johnson only stopped 3 of the 11 opponents he fought at 175 and 2 of them were glass-jawed tomato cans, one has been stopped in 9 of his 13 loses, and the other in 7 of his 8 loses. The only other fighter Johnson stopped at 175 was Guthrie who was packing glass himself, had faced a bunch of stiffs to earn his title shot, and wasn't any good.

lol the look on King's face would've been hilarious. I was thinking to myself the other day how funny it would be to see the expression on Roy's face when he watched this video for the first time. It genuinely made me laugh out loud lol

I'm probably one of a very tiny group on here who was a Jorge Castro fan. I've had a soft spot for Argentine fighters for many years and I think it all started with him after seeing his first fight against John David Jackson, which was broadcast on delay in the UK on those Don King cards they used to show on ITV back then.

I also have a soft spot for fighters with iron chins who can soak up an inhuman amount of punishment. I always rooted for Castro after seeing that fight. Jackson was beating the crap out of him for pretty much the entire fight, but Castro managed to find that miracle punch to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat just as looked like he was about to be stopped himself. Crazy lol

 

I honestly believe that if Roy had fought savage punchers he would've been sparked out cold much sooner than he was. This would've been devasting as it would've shattered his aura of invincibility and subsequently the opponents who faced him after that would've entered the ring with more self-belief and confidence that they could beat him instead of thinking it was mission impossible. Believing you can win is the most important part of the battle. If you don't believe you can do it you are almost certainly destined to fail.
