You said Ottke and Sturm neither of whom were ever the #1 in the division. Jones avoided the top contenders in EVERY single division he ever fought in. He also never beat a unified, lineal, or undisputed champion.

Nostalgic fans love to exaggerate the boxers they watched. I think Roy Jones is the second most overexaggerated boxer, after Muhammad Ali of course.

He didn't just avoid DM. He did it in every weightclass he fought in. He tried to fight Glen Johnson who had a trinket belt so he could call himself a 'champion' again and it backfired. He carefully maneuvered through divisions taking the path of least resistance. It is well documented. Bringing up Strum or Ottke doesn't change that. Jones is a Glass Jawed fighter you can't change that either. Jones whole career was based off of two fights he had in 1993 and 1994. He didn't fight a legit opponent again until almost 10 years later and got savagely KOed. He also fouled himself out of the Montell Griffin fight because he was struggling and had no Plan B in a fight. You are out of your element on this one made up facts and statistics like you normally do won't work. Jones was exposed as being a one trick pony with a Glass Jaw and no Plan B in a fight when things were not going his way.

 

When it comes to Roy, you're a joke of a poster.

I am saying Roy has no chance against Kovalev or Ward especially if Ward uses his holding, grabbing, wrestling, headbutting tactics. Jones wouldn't know what to do. He also would get sparked out by Foster, Patterson, Moore, Moorer, Spinks, and a few other LHW's.

 

Obviously, which is why you have to objectively look at the attributes of each fighter, and look at all available evidence before putting forward an objective opinion.

If you put Roy and Kovalev under the microscope, then at this stage, there is more evidence available in order to have favoured Roy, than vice versa.

Roy and Calzaghe fought and Calzaghe easily beat him. Jones history is well known. His own tv network called him 'Reluctant Roy'. The guy wasn't interested in having big challenges he wanted easy fights for big fight type money which is a good gig if you can get it. Too bad he is essentially broke now.

 

Thats cos Joe eventually packed his sacks and head stateside to peruse the fight.

What efforts did DM ever make to fight Roy?

Sturm?? Was Sturm considered Pavliks main rival barring Taylor? Abraham anyone?
