Deary me, I see this thread has taken its usual turn & has become a vehicle for the Nelson baiters & Burns haters...

Shame, as the Flea Mans thread deserves better than this. It asked honest questions, & now were back to who can annoy Billy Nelson the most, & who can belittle Burns the most.

Exactly. I like Burns FFS and went mental when he beat Martinez. I enjoyed th performance he put on against Michael Gomez as well for what it's worth.

But his trainer has come into this thread claiming Ricky Burns is some kind of superman that's decked the top welterweights in sparring.

to the OP well, i think unless katsidis has gone shite overnight then he will have too much for ricky this time round...who knows ricky is a good fighter might be close, who knows but if kat is still as good as he has been over the past few years then id say katsidis stops ricky late on imo.

 

Oh & heres one more thought for the conspiracy theorists that are trying to work out Franks mind for making this fight as Burns HAS to lose?

Maybe Frank simply has faith that Burns is good enough to beat katsidis?

I was saying to Mandz earlier.......the baiters etc are expected but when you see posters that generally post top stuff (informative) baiting......well........it becomes dissapointing.

Example being, people still mentioning Broner yadayada.

There was 7 days of Billy N Vs ESB and am pretty sure the reasoning was given from the man himself.

Billy, you really should respond to this. even if you think he`s wrong, this is clearly not a personal, clueless attack on your fighter. explain why he`s wrong, don`t just be rude.

As it goes, I agree on Broner and think that Burns could easily prove himself to be the best in that division - sfw is not the best it ever has been, but to be the true champion at any weight class, at any time, would be a tremendous achievement.

Yes, Burns hits harder than his record suggests, but the sting in his punches that keep opponents off him may well go at a higher weight.

That said, we have all - correctly - criticised Burns for the poor recent opponents. We shouldn`t appear to be having a go when he finally has a truly world class opponent.

I hope I`m wrong about Burns, as he seems like thoroughly nice bloke who is making the most of his talent. But from what I`ve seen of both fighters, which is a reasonable amount in recent years, I do not see how Burns beats Katsidis.

i agree that with many on here that ricky cant win this fight going backwards and trying to outbox katsidis.

what i would do isuse my advantages...height reach and speed to stand and trade with katsidis...sounds crazy??...no

rickys high workrate can win this fight but he will need to be smart and hold when katsidis gets close , even smother his attacks by getting oo close then dart in and out with his reach and combinations.

if ricky goes back and boxes he will end up slugging it out anyway

go toe to toe use your advantages and build a lead , katsidis is the one with the miles on the clock , slow him down by bettering his punch output and then late you will see his footspeed get much slower (it isnt that fast anyway) , thats when if heeded you can use a bit of range and dart in and out (see holyfield vs bowe 2).

tough tough fight to predict but has anyone mentioned that cuts might come into play???...i think burns might win this one on cuts , other than that its gonna be a close points decision fo one of them...im scottish and hope its burns

I'd put money on Burns doing a better job against Kats than Mitchell did. Can't see Ricky beating MK TBH but I'm a fan of both these guys so I don't care who wins. Should be a good fight.
