Who else was impressed by Garcia's timing and counter punching?

    Just watching the fight back again now, and Garcia's countering was sharp right from the off. He's throwing with Khan, in at least twos from from the opening bell. The only times he's not able to throw with Khan is when Amir is darting in and ambushing him with a couple of shots, which is when he has the most success.

    Khans flashy shoe shine combos catch the eye, but Garcia had no problem catching Khan clean with his own shots at all. Every now and then he throws a particularly big counter which whistles by Amir's face. It was clearly his game plan, and it was only a matter of time until one would connect.

    Khan can dominate fights where is opponent is overwhelmed by his speed and just covers up while he unloads, which in my opinion he was able to beat Maidana pretty comfortably (bar that 10th round). However, when he fights someone with good timing and a decent dig he is in trouble, as he's far to open when he throws and he doesn't have a great chin.

    I hadn't seen too much of Garcia before, other than the Morales fight, but I look forward to seeing how he develops. I'm impressed by his ability to stand his ground and time one of the fighters with the fastest hands out there. I suggest he might struggle fighting a similar fight with a fast fighter with real power, as those tactics do rely on him eating shots - much like Marquez's style, but we've seen nothing to suggest he has a bad chin.

    I was very impressed with him, to be honest with you. The fight went exactly the way I thought it was going to go.

    In the first round (even though Khan was winning) I knew that Garcia would eventually catch him.

    At first I thought you were joking Shaun.:oops:
    At times during the first two rounds I thought he looked awful.He was swinging like a crude streetfighter on occasion.
    When he warms up and gets going though,he's no slouch,but I'm not getting carried away yet.All he did was shatter the most notorious single glazing in boxing.

    One punch ended the fight and he didnt look up .

    In all honesty Khan is more at fault rather than Garcia being any good.

    He wouldnt touch any of the elite fighters around that weight.

    Garcia started time Khan's combos and landed a big shot. I thought he did a great job of reading Khan's offense and putting himself in position to counter. I could tell in the second round that he was getting closer to putting his imprint on the fight.

    Yeah who woulda thought Garcia wouldnt time and punch WITH his opponents even though he does that EVERY fight. Who woulda thought Dannys left hook would knock Khan out when Danny has knocked others out the exact same way and in the same brutal fashion. Yeah that was totally unexpected! :lol: im not hating on the OP. Just laughing at those who never saw it coming. Good **** man...

    I gave Khan the first 2 but Garcia knew in his head that he had the power, he knew the counter punches he possessed would hurt Khan. To be honest though, I'm not sure how to rate him as Khan laid his best chance of victory on a plate, AK could beat him UD in a rematch if he had ringsmarts imo. When hurt Khan tried standing on his punches but still lacked the power to stop Garcia, who knows what it would take?


    Stick him in with Matthysse for an epic war please!! :)

    Like who? Ur post reeks of garbage. Garcia can hang with anyone from 140 to 147. And if u dont believe that now, u will eventually n u gonna remember i told u so :lol:

    Has very good power, more than given credit for, but he'll have alot of trouble with mobile fighters or elite counterpunchers. Surprised Khan was standing right in front of him not his usually running around the ring. Looked slower than usual. Garcia does have a fan friendly style and opponents will be wary of his power. Flat footed powerpunching style.

    Yeah, He timed his shots very well. He started slow as usual but I have a feeling that it was part of the plan.

    props to him for winning but i don't rate him, still.
    khan just lost respect for his power in the first 2 rounds as garcia didn't land anything of note, khan left himself open and payed. IMO. :thumbsup

    Garcia was getting out boxed, his corner were getting concerned, one wild punch changed everything. Even then, a concust, leg less Khan was still managing to give Garcia the run around. Most boxers knock out punch is their left hook, this wasn't some carefully planned tactical stroke of genius, it was Garcia getting lucky. They box tomorrow Khan beats him easily.
