Who else was shocked that McGirt stopped the fight?

I thought the whole idea that they had going into this fight would be for Brewster to take a hell of a thrashing, and hopefully, come alive with a swarm later in the fight, if not sooner, and KO Klitschko as he's starting to wind down, a bit.

To see McGirt stop the fight, out of consideration for Brewster taking too much punishment seemed odd, as Brewster's entire schtick was to take alot of heavy punishment, show that warriors heart, get back up, and then comeback and turn the tides on Klit.

Of course this is not serious, and I realize that they have to lookout for the fighter's health, first and foremost, when they are getting beaten that badly, as Brewster was.

But after the first fight, and the beating that Brewster took, I expected him to be beaten to all bloody hell in this fight, and never lose his drive to keep getting back up and to keep coming at Klit; never say die, so to speak.

But to see them call the fight off due to taking too much punishment seemed very strange, coming from Brewster's corner, of all people. He's known for taking punishment. That's his thing, just before he comes alive and KOs YOU.......LOL

After the 1st 4 rounds, I had a feeling McGirt was going to stop the fight between rounds a little later if Brewster didn't step it up.

I'm not necessarily shocked.... McGirt is usually pretty on top of things when his fighters are taking more punishment than they need to, and he always considers the welfare of his fighter over anything. I think he pretty much realized that Brewster wasn't going to win the fight.

I wasn't shocked at all. This is very typical of Buddy McGirt

What's even more surprising is BREWSTER saying in the first fight.

"IT'S ALL ABOUT HEART" how Wlad quits and he is the one who will die before quiting.

Then in the rematch he does exactly what he criticized Wlad for even though Wlad didn't quit in the first fight.

The bottom line is : It was the right call. His man was getting whipped and with the bombs that WK is capable of he risked serious injury with almost no risk/reward incentive because he didn't look like he had any chance of coming back. Good trainer.

Brewster has a very big heart. I was live at Cologne, great fighter. Buddy McGirt is a very good trainer. It was time to stop the fight.

Wladimir Klitschko is the heavyweight champion of the world:

Well, wlad didin't hit the target(perfectly) with his right yet, and Bresters face was guite bad shape. Probably McGirt sense that wlad was getting use his right more and do it wise decision to stop the fight

Thank God for trainers like Buddy McGirt. There's no need to have a fighter face first on the canvas to stop a fight!

For those who dont know about the sport of boxing, both Buddy McGirt and Lamon Brewster saw that Wlad was fighting alot more measured than he did the first time they faced eachother.
......they realized that Wlad fighting at a measured pace was only going to get better and build momentum down the stretch, as Brewster got weaker taking punishment.

Brewster imo is still as tough a heavyweight as they come, but this was a case of him just getting totally outclassed. No real reason to continue as far as I'm concerned.
Lamon Brewster was absolutely correct when he said, " I got a family to go home too, I want to do it with my senses in tack."

The man in your avatar did absolutely the same thing vs Ricky Hatton......
.....in both occasions, the right thing to do!

The stoppage was surreal actually. I was wondering, why did they even make this fight if they weren't going to even try to win it.

They try to win, atleast in the beginning, but they see it's hopeless
