Some people have really legit reason to criticize a fighter but a lot of times it is drowned out by total rubish
You say Mayweather is a hypocrite, but what if honestly believes he's the greatest? In reality, Floyd hasn't been ducking anyone. He offered to fight Mosley on more than one occasion and Mosley's on video openly turning down a fight with Floyd. When was he in position to fight Tszyu or even Williams? Cotto never even mentions Mayweather's name, so how can he dodge a fighter that won't even say his name or even acknowledge a slight willingness to fight him? When Floyd tried to fight Cotto at 140 Arum said Cotto wasn't ready. He fought Baldomir for 8 million and the championship instead of fighting Margarito for only 8 million. Arum also said Mayweather accepted a fight with Margarito but wanted 20 million for De La Hoya and 10 million a piece for Hatton and Cotto. Arum refused, saying the money wasn't there. He offered Hatton fights at Junior Welterweight and Hatton turned them down. When you say people hate him because he's a hypocrite does that mean people should hate you too? I remember you having a little hissy fit because I called you a child and said you had Pac's pubes in your face. You said I was wrong for doing that. Since then, I've read your comments calling people names and insulting them. You just called someone an idiot. How is that not hypocrisy? Do you hate yourself?
All things considered, the outcry that Floyd is a huge ducker is a myth. Sure, he didn't face the guys that we wanted to see him fight. But ignorant people don't consider the business side of Boxing. I don't blame him for going after Baldomir for $12 mil instead of fighting Margo for less money. At the time Margo wasn't as big of a name as Baldomir. Remember when Pac moved up to 145 for the first time? He could've fought the winner of the Margo-Cotto fight. Instead he went after a huge payday against Oscar. I don't blame him for this as it was a nice chance to capitalize on good money and bigger fame. When Floyd does this, why does he get **** on? I don't even want to hear about the situation involving JMM. Floyd is entitled, just as any boxer is, for a somewhat easy tune up fight after coming off a 2 yr hiatus. Floyd never fought guys like Margo, Cotto, Williams but do you honestly think Pac would fight any of those guys when they were at their best? PWill has called out Pac. So has Shane. Pac pretty much ignored both guys. Yet I rarely hear people giving him crap about it. Such a double standard.
I dont like the word duck, but he did retire in 2008 with williams, cotto, mosley and cheato all looking to fight him. That was not a smart move imo and led to a lot of the stick he gets now, he should have fought at least 2 of them but he didnt, instead he called himself the best ever and retired with a hot division looking at him, a bit bizarre imo
That's unfair. That's like saying if Pac retired now, he should be faulted for not fighting Floyd or PWill. Floyd is out of retirement and he's taking on Shane isn't he? He's obviously doing something to redeem himself and I think credit should be given where it's due.
From this post the threat should have been closed. The haters will always find a way to discredit Floyd, its what they will and always do.
I dont think cotto has ever called anyone out, but he has said he wants all the big fights, is floyd not the biggest fight with the biggest money? Come on, floyds line that cotto need to get him pvp numbers up was a load of rubbish, cotto did 1.25 million with pac and that was after cotto had lost his 0. He was undefeated before that scumbag cheato. Not saying cotto would have beaten floyd at all, but imo cotto wanted the fight, i dont see any reason to suggest otherwise, floyd didnt want to play ball for his own reasons
I give floyd plenty of credit for fighting shane now. Lots of it. But this fight probably wouldnt have happened if pac hadnt fallen through for floyd and berto for shane. At the end of the day floyd had very little choice but to take this fight as with floyd looking for an opponent and shane landing right in front of him, it was impossible for it not to happen imo But im very happy floyd took it and i pick him to win it too, better late than never imo
He didn't have to call him out. All he had to do was say he would be willing to fight him. Whenever HBO asked Cotto if he wanted to fight Mayweather, Cotto would say "I fight who my promoters tells me to fight". Then he would sometimes follow it up by saying "I'm not afraid of him". Does that sound like someone who wants to fight? Cotto's biggest ppv numbers just came in his last fight. Two years ago Floyd said Cotto didn't have good ppv numbers. Was he lying? How do you know Cotto wanted the fight, but not Floyd? Like Cotto, Mayweather never said he wouldn't fight Cotto. As a matter of fact he offered Cotto a fight back in 2005. According to Arum, Mayweather wanted 10 million to fight him in 2006 or 2007 as part of a 4 fight deal after the Margarito fight would've taking place. Cotto never said he wanted to fight Floyd and Mayweather never said he wouldn't fight Cotto, so in your opinion that means Cotto wanted the fight?
It's hard to say whether Floyd would've waited for the winner of the Shane-Berto fight or not. I tend to think he would have done so because I get the feeling he's been really itching to get a leverage over Pac. No better way to do that than to gain an edge in a PPV numbers race. Floyd could've waited for the winner of that fight to set up a bout in the Summer. Sound perfect to me. Perhaps he would've surprised us by taking on PWill or Pavlik. There's no telling would have occurred had the circumstances been different. I think best way to look at the situation is in present day, not in the past or future.
I agree that cotto always says the same rubbish when interviewed after fights but that doesnt necessarily mean he doesnt want the fight either. In fact i could find print interviews from around that time where he talks and says he wants that fight the most http://www.***********.com/?m=show&id=13467 (scene it) I just dont see why he wouldnt want a floyd fight but thats just my opinion. I dont question cottos heart, after all he got into the ring with cheato when there werent many who wanted to do that and he also fought mosley but he ducked williams, just like nearly all the WW division did, but floyd offers far more money than any of those and money talks to these guys
Personally i think floyd wanted pac badly as it offers the most money and floyd loves to talk about ppv numbers and that fight would have gone through the roof. I think floyd knows he beats pac fairly comfortably. Floyd has said himself he has no real interest in legacy, legacy dont pay bills as he has said many times. If he was interested in legacy he would have taken on the guy that no one else would at WW, williams and then everyone would have said he was great if he won. It would have been a real legacy fight, fairly low reward and high risk. He would have also fought mosley in 2008 but he didnt and retired. Now he has to fight mosley and it is a legacy fight for him plus good money too.....
so what do you call it when he has been at the top for as long as he has and aint fought none of the top ww's:-( the dude is daffy duck duck
