De la Hoya definitely faced the better fighters.

    But he lost several times.

    Noobie

Castillo overated... yeah... take a look at his resume and tell me he is overated. The man fought practially everyone worth a damn at 135 is overated. get a clue

    Floyd Mayweather 2x (p4p star)
Joel Casamayor (current 135lb champ who just whooped michael)
Diego Corrales 2x (2 weight division champion)
Ricky Hatton (number 1 at 140)
    Herman Ngoujou (top 10 140)
    Juan Lazcano (Top 10 135)
    Julio Diaz (Champ at 135)
Stevie Johnston 2x (champ at 135)
    Jorge Paez (top 10 135)

    YEAH really crappy resume!

Yeah Oscar got a better resume ON PAPER. Like Floyd won't want to fight an old whitaker, an old chavez, overated steroid using vargas, old mayroga, old bhop.

Go into detail on them then! I love to hear it. You are ignorant thinking Winky and ike is better than everyone Castillo has faced. For one they are not even comparable bc of their distinct weight differences. Second of all on paper. Corrales, Joel Casamayor's resume is better than Wink's and IKE.
Also You are stupid newbie Quartey and Vargas got NOTHING on Castillo beside weight. Whitaker got a great resume but still doesn't level with Castillo. However Whitaker is the better fighter.

    Well you're not a voter.

Castillo is a hall of famer, whether you like it or not. He may not be first ballot but he is HOF no doubt

oscar has the better resume and is up for big fights more than floyd is, but let's be serious and not get carried away - oscar lost the biggest fights of his caréer and the biggest victories (names) on his record were against great fighters past their prime.

i remember someone saying the addage that a 'big great fighter beats a small great fighter' when oscar and floyd signed up to fight each other.

the problem with that is this was a fight between an excellent biggger man against a great smaller man, which is why oscar couldn't do to hopkins what floyd did to oscar.

and this is how history will remember them both.

one's a great, the other's a hall of famer - but not a great fighter.
