If you put in Tyson and Holyfield for Larry, who he actually lost to then it's Holmes. Take them out and stick to wins and it's Lewis.
True, does Tyson really count as a genuine challenge, same as Ali for Holmes? They were both well past beat and in hindsight stood no chance at all.
I think Holmes faced a more consistently better pool of opponents. Unfortunately for both they were both late to the party at the back end of golden eras perhaps Holmes moreso but Lewis didn’t get that Bowe fight which perhaps would have got him into the all-time top three.
To Larry add Leroy Jones Mike Weaver (prime) Trevor Berbick (prime) Gerry Cooney (prime) Renaldo Snipes (prime) Bonecrusher Smith (prime) Michael Spinks (prime) Larry fought better fighters although Lewis fought very good ones too .. pretty close .. H2H Larry may be one of the short list that beats Lennox ..
Mercer is a top 5 win for Holmes imo Then Rahman, Rudduck, Bruno and Golota were either on par or better than Berbick, Weaver, Cooney and Snipes. Then Tua > Shavers. Holyfield at this point was still as good as Williams imo. Vitali is much better than Norton H2H imo, if not as a HW ATG. Tyson and Ali were both pretty **** at those points and neither a notable win, but that Tyson would beat that Ali imo. Both beat Mercer All imo obviously.
Holmes. His fights against prime Tyson and Holyfield are enough to settle this. Who beat better opposition? That's a much tougher question.
