Rocky Maricano faced Archie Moore in his final bout, whereas Floyd Mayweather is taking on Andre Berto.

Simple question. Who took on the tougher assignment. :think

I give the ever so slight edge to Marciano for taking on a prime Archie Moore. :nod

Slight edge, what are you a *****? Archie an ATG who had the greatest number of knockouts of any fighter in history, compare that to Andre Berto the fighter who got owned fighting Jr Welters and doesn't have a single elite name on his resume.

I think Archibald Moore was on something like a 55-2-1 run going into the Marciano fight and one of those loses was on a DQ six years earlier and the other was to old rival and LHW ATG Harold Johnson who was 33-3 at the time, and 2 of those loses on his ledger were against Moore. Moore also avenged that loss by stoppage the year prior to facing Marciano too. I think Moore just edges it IMO.

Again, what's the point, it's like asking if water is wet, talk about his whole resume, it's not like Berto erases what he's achieved, is it?

 He struggled against both though (well I heard he did against Chambers). And he also went life-and-death in his other win in his last half dozen fights against Jan Zaveck, who he only managed to overcome after slicing his eyes up with Berto billy goat butts. But I guess at least he has those loses against Soto Karrass, Guerrero and Vic Ortiz to bolster his claim. lol

It will mean little when Berto shatters that glass mandible Mayweather is hiding. :hey

Maybe but Berto is shot though and he was gash in even when in his prime. Isn't there a rumour going round that Floyd wasn't too keen of facing prime Berto, though?

This shouldn't be a thread, and it makes me cringe seeing Berto and Moore being compared in any shape or form.
