Why would Dirrell need to fake anything when he was giving Abraham a boxing lesson.

I don't think either guy was faking it.

And the Roy Jones interview tells you the type of mentality you need to have in the ring. It's do or die. He didn't feel the ref touch him to tell him to move away for the count so he kept on punching because Griffin ducks down a lot and Jones didn't know if Griffin was going to stand back up and come back with something. So he kept on punching until the ref came in to stop it, which didn't happen until the 2 shots.

How do you figure that? He was winning...

If Jones hadn't fouled and Griffin made it trough the last 30 seconds of the round (he probably would have), he needed to win all of the 3 next rounds to get a DRAW! And having been knocked down in 7 and 9 the chance of that happening wasn't very promising.

    Judges scores after round 8
    75-76 Griffin
    77-75 Jones
    76-75 Jones
Judges scores after round 9 would have ended normally (10-8 Jones)
    85-84 Jones
    87-83 Jones
    86-83 Jones
3 rounds to go, with Griffin 1, 4 and 3 points behind... Do the math.

because thats how the ***** works

he's the type that would fight for 11 rounds and then when the going gets tough in the 12th he will look for a comfortable place to take a knee and/or quit.

Jones was frustrated that Griffin was giving him such a hard fight, which is why he fouled him. It was Futch's plan all along, he believed that Jones had a unnatural fear of getting hit, which is why he told Griffin to feint alot, Jones found himself constantly bracing himself for attacks which never came. Not to mention the fact that Griffin was bull rushing him against the ropes and finding a home for his left hand counter
