Because he's an overrated, overprotected fighter. Calzaghe fans on this site don't make it any better.

When this fight was being talked about before christmas I was in a real dilemma because, as everyone knows, Hopkins is one of my favourite fighters but I also really like Joe & was chuffed for him getting Sports Personality etc.

Then after weeks of mindless drivel on here that dilemma has dissappeared & I will be cheering for Hopkins.

To be honest even though lewis is a talent I wouldn't sit up in the early hours of the morning because F1 doesn't get my jucies flowing.

    Here's the point:

I have always like Calzaghe as a fighter and a person. He really seems like a good human being outside of the ring as well.

However, I do feel myself being turned against him by people constantly lying to back up their point of view.

He's a great fighter who DOES NOT have a GREAT resume. He has domination over a weak division and weak competition (by 40+ fight, 35 year old standards).

Furthermore, he made little effort from 1997-2006 to "cross-over" into the mainstream by making a MAJOR fight.

In the end, call a spade a spade. There is NO REASON to hate Calzaghe as a person, or his fighting style. There is no reason to not respect his accomplishments. But, the more people tell lies about his resume, and about the WHOLE WORLD from 160-175 ducking King Calzaghe, the more he will be rooted against.

I always liked him, but his nuthuggers are even worse than Mayweathers...

Give me a break. You KNOW people lie about Calzaghe.

They talk about him like from 1997-2006 he was the MOST FEARED MAN IN THE WORLD from 160-175, and couldn't find a big fight.

He stayed with Warren fighting on his home turf, against fighters ranging from bums to low-grade contenders, rather than making a BIG FIGHT.

It's plain and simple. No other GREAT HOF-level fighter (that I know of) spent 9 of his prime years fighting little known fighters, and guarding the WBO Supermiddleweight Title!

He wanted the money, the title defenses, and the convenience/saftey (maybe Warren wanted them all, but JC has the right to overrule Warren). That's fine with me. He has the right to do whatever he wants with his career, but stop making it out like he has a WORLD CLASS RESUME, because that's just a lie.

Pray tell, why is Calzaghe the only fighter Hopkins will get out of bed for if his resume is not 'World Class'?
