Who fights Joshua on April 13th? Wilder or Fury?

I think it will be Kownacki or Miller. Fury and Wilder will definetly have a rematch.

 

Yeah, he lived up to every stereotype of how wild and unskilled he can look, but he also lived up to every hype of just how dangerous he can be at any given moment. Late in the fight too.

His finishing didn't impress, though.

 

Joshua and Hearn will pick a cream puff for AJ.

 

Looking at tonight's fight it's seems pretty clear why Joshua wants Wilder more than anyone else. I think he'd KO him in the mid rounds or earlier. I think he'd make him pay more for those wild swings, whereas Fury was mostly content to avoid them and stay on the outside. Wilder might get one in, but Joshua has shown previously that he isn't easy to finish and Wilders' finishing didn't impress tonight.

Fury will be more difficult for Joshua, I think.

 

neither guys stock plummeted, but neither guy got the win. But this helped both guys to be honest. Not many draws in a big fight. Hearns vs. Leonard in 1989 was one.

 

No. I think Wilder KOs AJ. Joshua would never to able to avoid those punches like fury did. He is not a quick defensive fighter.

 

For all those that want Joshua v Wilder.....

When you reward inept/corrupt/whatever it was decisions like the one tonight, you get more of them.


Wilder lost tonight.

Therefore, he has a couple of options.

1 - Rematch the man who beat him, on Fury's terms.

2 - Join the list of Whyte/Usyk etc who want a shot at Joshua and been trying to earn one.

 

Fury's head movement looks good, but he would get so much mileage out of just keeping that left high to block punches. Especially when fighting guys who are closer to his own size and who can reach him easier. If he had kept his left up and blocked neither of those rights would have caught him.

Wilder is so predictable, has so preciously little in terms of set up, that a disciplined guard will go a long way in picking off those shots. But, yes, Wilder might get one in on Joshua - he has so far in every fight - but his flailing follow up showed itself inadequate to finish a top fighter last night. And Joshua has shown that he is tough to finish off.

Joshua isn't quite as explosive as Wilder and he spots him a bit reach and height, but his superior composure will make sure that he gets in the decisive blows first, I think.

 

I actually thought before the fight that the best possible result for Fury would be a draw.

It means he's not locked into a rematch with Wilder but is still lineal champ.

I think Fast Eddie's talk about a "surprise" opponent for Joshua in April was in reference to Fury.

Even though both Wilder and Fury said they would be interested to a rematch neither really committed to a rematch after the fight and Wilder seemed quite open to a Joshua fight.

I think from Joshua's point of view they will see Wilder as a more winnable fight and for all the belts so will be first choice but Fury v Joshua would be huge in the UK.

I actually think Wilder will prefer Joshua next over Fury too. More money, more belts and he might think he stands more chance of knocking Joshua out.

I'd prefer Joshua v Wilder in April for all the belts with the winner fighting Fury.

 

I agree with everyone who has suggested Wilder will have to travel if he wants a truly top level opponent now. The WBC belt is a paper belt in effect after yesterday.
This strengthen's AJ's hand in that a fight against Fury will be to become undisputed HW champion of the world.

However I feel Whyte has done enough to earn a title shot now. I still believe he'll be the April opponent. The Joshua Whyte fight was hugely entertaining, and both fighters have improved.

 

If Whyte beats Chisora => Whyte.
If Chisora beats Whyte => Pulev.
If Pulevs pull out / doesn't want => Chisora or Miller.

There is no chance Joshua will fight Fury in April.

 

Joshua beats Wilder... impressive but not monumental, AJ is the better boxer and Wilder has a punchers chance just like against Fury but in Wilder's case his punchers chance is much more likely than for any other fighter.
If AJ wins a decision vs Fury, this would be monumental, I'm talking about a fair decision.
