The Cotto that Pacquiao beat is better. Cotto is against a slower pace Floyd, but you can see that Cotto is gassing out in the later rounds, Cotto has even worse stamina vs Floyd. How can you say this Cotto at 154 is better, he took a beating from Pacquiao which takes a lot out of him, Cotto's best wins are also in welter weight. Who did Cotto beat at 154? Many Floyd fans thinks that Cotto is already shot a few years ago, now because he is against Floyd, all of a sudden he is a beast..

They both fought the same Cotto. . . To say that the beating Pac gave Cotto didn't leave some of Cotto in the ring that night would be foolish, and naive. . .

But to say that Floyd fought a "leftover" would be equally foolish. . .

Pac fought a slightly faster Cotto. . . Floyd fought a heavier, slightly more powerful Cotto. . . Cotto was the same for both. .

It'd be unfair to take away from either's victory.

The Pac Cotto was quicker with his hands and feet. The May Cotto seemed heavier and stronger and able to push May around.

Cotto was a big underdog in his bout with Floyd and he was the favorite against Pac. Pac was coming up in weight and Cotto was considered to be too big for him. The fights are years apart, Cotto may be mentally stronger now, Floyd a little slower, and more willing to engage. If you take the pulse for each fight night, the Cotto who fought Pac was much more highly regarded.

Pacquiao was a 3-1 favorite against Cotto, hardly the underdog

There's virtually no difference. Cotto's still the same guy. Working with Pedro Diaz is a very nice addition, yet the beating he received at the hands of Pac and the 3 years in between could only have hastened his decline. If there is any difference in quality, it's pretty much negligible.

Pac's Cotto - younger, faster, quicker, 1 beating. Mediocre trainer/corner. Mentally, not far removed from Marg beating.

PBF's Cotto - stronger, mentally relaxed, good corner. 2 beating. Slower and not quite so quick.

Pac by a decent amount IMHO. If PBF was a stronger puncher, he would have backed up Cotto like Pac and Margo II did.

Question then if you trade Cotto's how are the results?

Floyd by far...at 154 Cotto could eat and was strong...at 145 he couldn't eat and wasn't strong...stength is a big part of Cotto's fight game...there is a reason Manny demanded the stupid 145lb weight.

Cotto himself and 70 percent of the posters on this site (a good portion are mayweather haters) all seem to think the version Cotto fought was better.....I agree with the man himself and the majority.

Said Floyd. Although, Cotto only had to loose a pound from Clottey to Pac. I think trainer had a big difference.

There was nothing brutal about that fight. Close fight . Cotto starting to fade and they stop it. Sort of boring.
