Hopkins was affraid to engage as he knew he get worn down if he fought like he did against Tarver or Pavlik. He was looking to cheat, spoil and ***** his way to a decision, at least Roy was willing to go out on his shield and the cut just proves his heart cannot be questioned.
Hopkins didn't get hit as much. He also ran a lot and feigned injury. There isn't much heart in that, but he fought well. Jones got hit a lot, ran less (probably due to legs) and dealt with adversity with his first big cut.
Roy took his beating like a man. Hopkins didn't get a beating, he just lost a close fight...a big difference. Of course Jones was in survival mode, and didn't go for a KO that he knew he needed from the middle of the fight. So he did not go out on his shield...he just survived.
