I honestly wasn’t gonna bother anymore, there really is nothing you can do to convince these guys that old school fighters aren’t invincible, even if you use basic logic
I hear ya. That's one of the reasons I gave this site a "rest" for about 5 years. Now I just make a few counters every so often.
What was I cherry picking? I don't think you know what that means or maybe you didn't get the context of the conversation. He was claiming povetkin would be "too big" for Frazier but I correctly pointed out that he went life and death with a cruiserweight. Povetkin himself is statistically not that much bigger as i showed the difference between their average weight was around 16 lbs and that includes povetkins chubby mid section and flab. He isn't overpowering or outmuscling jack ****. I even acknowledged povetkin was the more well rounded fighter, had more power in his right, and that he could possibly win the fight. Does that sound like a hater whose just cherry picking? Povetkin is not winning a unanimous decision over frazier. Hardly anyone would. He is one of the hardest boxers to convincingly outbox. A close to prime Muhammad Ali couldn't do it. Whyte is not in the same area code as Mathis in terms of ring IQ or skill. Mathis was selected for the Olympic trials and could be an outboxer sticking and moving or a boxer puncher. Mathis had better stamina, defense, hand speed, and foot speed than Whyte who blocks punches with his face and fought like a caveman for 75% of his career. He isn't the most durable guy either. It was a great win for Povetkin beating a #1 rated guy who was 10 years younger but Whyte's best qualities have nothing to to with skill, it's his ruggedness, size, and power that has kept him relevant. I don't think you'll find many people agreeing with you that Whyte is more "skilled" than Mathis. Even if he is...again the context of that conversation was Tony claiming Povetkin would be too big for Frazier and outmuscles him but Frazier beat the dog **** out of Mathis who was both taller and heavier than Povetkin.
While true, that is a very simplistic version of it, but nevertheless, even if we take it as true; it was still good enough to beat the greatest HW boxer that ever lived, who was still an awesome fighter, regardless of the layoff.
You laugh all you want. You think Haye beats Frazier. I couldn't give a **** what you think about what I think.
I have no semblance of a clue how a man who bested Muhammad Ali could possibly best a man who struggled with Oleg Maskaev, and David Izon. It's a mystery to me.
