I have spent some time thinking about it, and it is hard for me to find someone from the last 3 decades or so who has a better resume than Hopkins. I don't count Ali even though he was still fighting 30 years ago, but just about everyone after him counts. There are a ton of greats from Leonard to Mayweather, but which of them can boast the opponents that Hopkins can?

I am honestly curious. This is not a challenge stating that it cannot be done. It is a sincere question. I could follow up with it by asking "Where does Hopkins rank in the greatest of the last 30 years, or of all time?" I think he rates high, but I want to know who you all think is higher.

    Thanks.

Leonard, Whitaker, Hearns, Jones Jr., Hagler, Duran, Spinks, Holyfield, Chavez, Arguello, Mayweather Jr., De La Hoya, Trinidad, etc.

All are in the running, maybe a few depending on how much you cut off of their careers.

Jeez you can find guys in the last 5 years with far superior pesumes than Hopkins. The guy lost to every decent fighter he faced that was not over hyped garbage or a welterweight.

definatly no delahoya. cant believe he gets rated so highly, look at his record, everytime he fought a genuine world class fighter he lost.

Sweet Pea I'd say has the best resume of the decade's mentioned. Also in terms of reputation....I can't think that you'll find one boxing fan who thinks Chavez deserved a Draw.

I'm not a huge fan but Ray Leonard has done a lot, when you consider his retina troubles, time taken off and the fact he rose to every challenge he was given in his 'Prime' Years'.

Mayweather Jr I think could have a better resume. if he beat Margarito, someone who there will probably be no excuses from if he lost, then I'd rank Mayweather much higher. The Chico and Hatton wins were very impressive, DLH good, but Hopkins has more. Can't think of a fighter of Arturo Gatti's calibre being one of Hopkins' best victories.

Hopkins has alot of names, but he didn't beat any of them at their best.

Genuine world class fighters he beat: Trinidad, Vargas, Carr, Chavez, Camacho, Mayorga, Castillejo, Hernandez, etc.

He had a few gifts in there, but a few robberies as well. Bottom line, you could say the same about Hopkins(losses to Jones, Calzaghe, and Taylor), and his resume is nowhere near as stacked as Oscar's.

    Mayweather over Hopkins?

Based on what? The fact that he cherry picked his opponents and kept his "0" while avoiding the top challengers while Hopkins took on all comers and then some and lost a few while beating noticeably more P4P fighters? Don't get me wrong, i think PBF might've beaten all of the top WWs out there but the FACT is he didn't take on the challenge and he's a ***** for it.
