When he beat a P4P fighter in Vernon Forrest twice. He was past his best by the time of the Oscar bouts though, I'll give you that.

Mayweather avoided a good amount of top competition by moving through the weights, while Hopkins avoided a similar amount by sticking around in the wasteland that was the MW division around the time he was reigning in it. A guy like Roy moved up throughout the weights, missing a few challengers on the way, but generally fighting better competition overall. Same with Floyd. Hopkins's recent conquests are the only things that even keep him in the running in a discussion about resume.

As for the "P4P fighters" remark. It's a lot easier when they're natural WW-JMW's fighting above their best weight. I have no agenda out on Hopkins, and I generally dislike Floyd, but if you actually compare their careers and resumes, you won't see a big edge in either's favor.

    Jones - Didn't beat him
Tito - 160 was not his best weight by any means
Hoya - 15(7)(8) or whatever it was wasn't his best weight by any means
    Taylor - Didn't beat him
Wright - 170 wasn't his best weight by any means
Tarver - Looked dissinterested, unmotivated had just lost 20lbs and coming off a SD win against Rocky ****ing Balboa
    Calzaghe - Didn't beat him
Pavlik - 170 isn't his best weight by any means

Now exactly what was I wrong about in my original post. Just because I underestimated Hops and Cal and am man enough to admit it doesn't mean I'm wrong about this too jerkoff...maybe you should take a page out of my book and admit your wrong now :good

Ignorant fool. Get your facts right. He cleaned out the middleweight division for 10 years. Granted, it wasn't the strongest division at the time, but he didn't duck anyone and beat everyone convincingly. You didn't give Tito a chance against him did you? You thought he was too small and would get his ass kicked? I thought so.
After losing to Taylor he moved up and fought the best fighters available, getting 3 huge wins in the process.

Talk about looking at someone's career from a glass half empty perspective. You can do that with everyone. You can find excuses to discredit almost any fighter that way.

You do realize that the same can be said of hopkins right? he lost to Jones and Calzage.

Oscar beat Chavez, Whitikar, soon to be pacman, Camacho etc. Now if you are going to start digging up excuses the same can be done for Bernard's wins. Winky, oscar and Tito were all moving up in weight. Oscar and Winky were both well past their prime also.

If you are going to try to use the "hopkins really won against Joe' argument then you open the door for those people that believe that Oscar really won against Tito and Shane.

Ok you are making it out like I'm bashing the guy. We're comparing resumes. All I did was state that he never beat an elite fighter, in their prime at their prime weight. He's a legend, an ATG, one of the greatest to ever fight.....but its true. :patsch Holy ****, you guys are ****ing sensitive.

your argument is especially valid since people use these exact same reasons to dismiss the wins by other guys mentioned in the thread
