168 has been getting quite a bit better over the last year or two when it comes to interesting fighters although they are all a little lacking when it comes to being elite other than Canelo. Anyways, who would you pick if anyone?

No one. Absolutely no one. I wouldn't favor anyone in the current division to beat Ward, Froch, Kessler or (pre Froch) Bute TBQFH

I haven't seen anything in Chrisitian yet that would suggest he's even top 5 currently. He has the frame of a JMW, he does have some decent speed, some pop. He doubles up on the hooks and throws combination but his style would be picked apart by Kessler (who made almost no in ring mistakes) and Lucian would come up the middle against those wide shots.

    I dunno man............I don't see it

Ward and Froch wouldbe favorites over every SMW today. Add in Calzaghe and RJJ too. Kessler and Bute arent of that cloth.

Ward, Froch, Calzaghe, and RJJ beat Canelo, Benavidez, Munguia, and Morrell.

Both Canelo and Benavidez are live dogs in some of those fights, but prime RJJ stops Benavidez (who I suspect is legitimately chinny...as evidenced by Gavril) and makes Canelo shell up. Canelo could potentially outpoint Froch and I think Froch and Benavidez have an all-out war...with Froch raising his hands in the end.

I agree with much of what you said, even about Bute (who gave glimpses but ultimately fell apart multiple times), but Kessler I think is but from that same mold. I think he's just shy of that elite level but he was the top shelf at SMW for quite a while and I think he'd be top 3 today. He simply didn't do much wrong in the ring, and that's hard to beat unless you have something dynamic about you (Obviously Ward, Froch, and Calzaghe all did)

Canelo vs all those guys would be fun.
I think he beats everyone except Ward.

This era really isn't that great, Canelo is the only one I could see being able to compete in the era of Ward, Froch, Kessler, Bute, Groves, Dirrell and Bika. Ward would beat everyone at 168 now.
