For me it is definitely Wilder. Fury eventually only did what he was expected to do, he was actually expected to demolish Wilder and make easy work of him in 2-3 rounds.

Wilder ended up showing unexpected bravery, cajones. Most fighters after a brutal one sided beating in a fight would not even bother rematching the same opponent, Wilder went to court for the rematch and apparently even refused step aside money. Deep down he probably knew Fury was a stylistic nightmare, impossibility but he still was prepared to go through fire. That image and video of him sweating profusely and his trainer holding his hand on his head, deep down Wilder knew he was heading to be beaten up again, being rough housed, outweighed on the inside but he was prepared to face the bullets while trying his best to win.

Even his detractors are in shock by how tough he proved himself to be in adversity

Wilder's ring rep went way up but he was still knocked out and the sour grapes cost him fan love.

You’re lucky I’m not a mod, or your parent… either way, you would’ve been terminated.

Fury does. To the winner goes the spoils.

That is a question that should be asked of either fighter. I am sure Fury is happy with the outcome. I am sure Wilder is not.

Fury without question… Wilder did not do much but mostly survive longer then expected. Yes the knockdowns were there but Fury was nowhere near being stopped…. Fury took over completely.

Wilder may have improved his rep, but physically he was trashed. I wouldn't be surprised if he is shot after this fight. Not something I wish on any fighter, but that was a brutal fight.

As others have mentioned its a rather uncertain situation. Obviously Fury wins the rivalry, but he was already expected to be the winner. Wilder certainly proved he is as tough as they come and his determination won fans over (although his off the ring behavior may lose them just as well). But unfortunately for Wilder he also took the worst beating of his career and may never be the same again. Only time will tell who came out better because this trilogy.

Wilder vs Fury was like a real life Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed matchup.

I'll go against the obvious outcome and say that Wilder may have gained more.

I was expecting Fury to run through him like a locomotive, and yet he came within a whisker of losing.

If the third fight had never happened I think I'd have rated Fury a little bit higher than I currently do. Wilder showed a huge amount of grit (both of them really) but other than that he really had no business making this so close. All I can think is that Fury wasn't really up for this fight and had a crap camp.

    Well, Fury won, so...

Wait, is this a trick question?

Wilder won the event, or something?

I mean, Fury is the answer.

The winner always comes on top... Fury came out better. Wilder showed heart, but still lost and lost pretty badly.

Welcome to ESB in 2021. Someone can get wobbled around all 4 corners of the ring and then stopped but still, come out as the victor.

So Wilder won the event, a moral victory for the ages.

We need to start awarding victories to the actual winner and another to the winner of the event.

I recall Clenelo won the event against GGG in the second fight despite being smashed from pillar to post and dropping a lopsided decision. All because he held the centre of the ring more and landed a few soft jabs.

Looks like the American boxing fraternity is really running with this winning the event stuff.
