Srr the greatest boxer of all time. The fact that you would insult him shows how shameless you are. Go away and don't ever reply to my posts. Pathetic

Geez you are either quite mentally impaired or a bad troll, Robinson's son attested to him hitting his wife on more than one occasion even threw a combination at her. His son believed it was his abuse of her that lead to her numerous miscarriages.

As for the thread I'd have to say the Briscoe fight (numero duex) the constant pressure and hard punching from Briscoe coupled with the fact Monzon wasn't able to get the better of him in clinches, wasn't able to dictate the pace and distance as effectivley as he normally could and couldn't force his generalship on him plus Briscoe making him do the funky chicken dance means IMO it was his toughest. Despite this tho, like majority of his wins, the descision was never in question and he made it look rather effortless.

I have to say, after reconsideration, that it was Valdez II, however, tactically, Griffith was almost as difficult for him the second time, but it was after Monzon had been shot and he really wasn't at his best in '73.

The second Briscoe fight was when Monzon proved that he could move and box all night, but he stood and traded with Bennie in the last 5 rounds.

Valdez I think is his toughest opponent having dropped Monzon. Briscoe was tough on him too.

The pre-Benny Paret version of Emile Griffith would put a lot more hurt on Monzon. Emile didn't have the sport firm in his heart after what happened against Paret.

Second Valdez fight...But man, Monzon put a beating on Valdez. After those fights with Monzon, I don't think Valdez or Briscoe were quite the same. Monzon wasn't the biggest puncher, but he just a punishing fighter.

I thought the second Griffith fight was arguably very close.

True, but he would have been a much bigger puncher ala the two Benvenuti fights, had arthritis not taken it's toll and made him modify his style...actually, the arthritis may have been a blessing in disguise as it forced him to develop alternate means of winning his fights...ways that may have been less exciting and spectaculsr than the big right hands, but no doubt made him rely on his ring IQ more.

It was way too close for comfort.

Valdez dropped Monzon early but that's all he did. A dominating Monzon performance. I was a huge Valdez fan and watched this bout live. Spent most of the fight in silence as my fav fighter was cut to ribbons.

Monzon-simply the best middle ever.Though a little before my era I have seen many tapes of his fights and just marvel at his endurance and how seemingly how effortless he would win.Amazing fighter!Great thread-thanks.:thumbsup
