Tougher, as in more physical, I go with Hatton. Hatton was at least able to back Mayweather up. Going by punch stats alone, Hatton landed 52 power shots on Mayweather, to Marquez's 21. This doesn't count punches landed on the shoulders, which also makes for a physical fight, and this is without considering Hatton/Mayweather was only 10 rounds. Hatton ate a large amount of straight rights and left hooks from Mayweather and kept coming, until his eventual demise. Mayweather was also able to land at a 59% on Marquez, those numbers alone does not make it look like a competitve fight when compared to Marquez's 12%.
HaHaHa. Pretty accurate. If Castillo was up here, he would be the obvious choice. He gave Mayweather 2 good fights. By far the most competitive of fighters in Mayweather's career.
Sorry, but Marquez did nothing of the kind...I suggest you watch that bout again. It is labelled a mismatch and a warm-up bout for a reason. Marquez had one bit of success the whole bout, that was the right hand (?) he landed on Mayweather whilst he was on the ropes, before he was knocked down. Mayweather controlled the pace the whole 12 rounds. Marquez's plan before the bout was to force the offense and the pace. Much of the bout though Mayweather could pretty much stand in front of Marquez with a loose defense, and pop a left hook and a pull-counter at almost any time. Marquez looked helpless at times, he just couldn't get close at all...Marquez didn't force Mayweather to do nothing in this bout. It was pretty much a sparring session for Mayweather. The only time he left 2nd gear was when he got the knockdown.
Hatton was the crudest and supposedly less skillful of the 3, yet he gave Floyd one of his toughest fights. It's not the style that will give Floyd problems it's the quality of fighter and an even playing field. Mosley too old, Marquez too old and too small, and Hatton as crude as his style was he was very good at what he did and it's bull**** to think it was a cakewalk for Floyd because it wasn't. Clearly Castillo, Judah, Oscar, Hatton, and Jesus Chavez all gave Floyd a run for his money. And I also think even though they were all elite only Castillo is an ATG and did enough to beat him.
While Castillo is surely a hall of famer he's no ATG Victoriano Sosa also gave PBF a good challenge [yt]vhLCOrbLA00[/yt]
Hatton gving PBF a hard fight is one of the biggest myths in boxing.:deal Hatton only had limited success because of his quick feet which enabled him to close the distance, when they were at range he got beaten to the punch and picked apart. But when he got inside he didn't work just held and wrestled and complained he hit PBF with maybe 5 clean shots all night long, he was outclassed, beaten at his own game broken down and made to dance with the ring post. If you want to say he gave PBF a hard fight becasue he made him fight a higher pace then fine but if anything PBF-Hatton is an underrated clinic:deal
Hatton. Other than one good punch, Mosley gave him no trouble at all, and Marquez was never in the fight. I actually had Hatton-Mayweather 57-57 through six rounds and was starting to get a little scared I wouldn't make good on my bet.
