Agreed. I'm just saying that in practice, watching a ight at full speed with no replays it can be hard to see who is landing the more or cleaner shots. Judges often give the rounds to who is going forward throwing more because that's usually who lands more.

What I mean about the hometown guy (or fans favourite,) getting the close rounds is it's a bit like the Emporers new clothes. If the whole arena acts like someones doing well the judges might think they've missed something that everyone else has seen.

e.g. I think Froch beat Pascal but it was much closer than the judges scored it because the fans in Nottingham were chearing every time Froch threw anything and that makes it look like they were all good shots even when they're blocked or whatever; unless the judges get a clear view of all of them - which obviously they can't when they're all at different angles.

It would be interesting to know ahead of time which fighter HBO will "Pump Up" for the camera's.
I'm sure Max (Even though I hope he has the night off) will slobber on one of them.

I appreciate HBO on mute now.
(Maybe "bump" your fav album while you watch the fight)

That said... JMM should have the advantage.
(Because Diaz is expected to do more, meaning he has to K.O. Marquez)

well in the case of hometown fighter, if it is in the hometown guys city and state, then usually he has an advantage. It matters I am sure. Virgil Hill was accused of always fighting in North Dakota his home state, but he would have won most times he fought since he was a boxer and was so much better than most guys he fought during his defenses the first time around. What they accused him of was making it to his comfort level. But as a turned out he fought in other countries more than most champions did.

    You CAN give even rounds.

The round should go to the winner. If the round is even, score it even. Period. There is no advantage to either fighter for any reason. Neither for hometown bias, nor for one having a title.

Edit: I was at an amateur card tonight and there was a clear hometown joke of a decision. The crowd awkwardly cheered, and many of us were looking around at each other, basically laughing. It was so absurd that it was embarrassing. Nobody wins with such a decision. Nobody.

I don't know who SHOULD get them, but it's usually the home town guy. Especially, ESPECIALLY!!! When, as most fights are, the fight IS NOT ON TV!!! That's when homecooking is at its absolute WORST!

whoever has a promotional contract with the promoter organising the event.

In the case of mega-fights, the guy who gets close rounds in the guy who deserves it. Actually those fights are usually co-promoted
