Who gets more credit....manny or marquez

Im sure there were a bunch of PAC fanatics claiming the David Diaz win was better than JMM, but when you hear stuff that far off you know who your audience is. There aren't ANY Diaz fighters anywhere near the level of Juan and that's the truth.

 

I agree with the bolded. JMM has changed his style to be mroe fan friendly. Guys like EM and MAB got a lot of attention not b/c they were better than Juan, but b/c they brought more excitment to their fights. It wasn't until after the 1st PAC fight that JMM began to change his style and it's done wonders for his career. On the flip side he's a lot more at risk with his style but it's given the fans the ability to see that he's got a true champions heart. He's been knocked down...he's been hurt and he's always come back...most of the time to win.

For me the Juan Diaz, Casa and Kats fight only proves that JMM is no longer in his prime or at his overall best. He's definitley on the slide, yet he's proven to be one of the best if not the best at 135.

 

Had PAC chosen to fight Kats over Marg what would you have said on PAC's choice of opposition? :think

atschReally? Kats tehcnically is flawed.....but he's got a ton of heart and determination that goes well with his physical toughness and athletisim. But to say he's MORE SKILLED than Marg is only showing your lack of boxing knowledge.

Regardless of weight....Marg is by far a better fighter than kats. Let's say PAC went back down to Jr WW or even 135 to make the fight with Kats?

The weight only enhances PAC's victory over Marg which is NOT what I wanted to highlight. Comparing the two LOSERS in this debate is the best way to figure out which win means more. Of course the fact JMM is on the slide would also be a factor in keeping things in perspective. IMO PAC's win over Marg is a bigger win.

 

NO ONE expected PAC to KO Marg. Excpet Freddy! But you look at most of the predictions from the boxing world and most felt PAC would win a decision. They all felt that PAC lacked the necessary size and power to get Marg out of there. Most felt JMM was gonna beat Kats easily. I for one felt Kats would prove that JMM was on the slide by making this fight more competitive than it should be had JMM be in his prime or at his overall best.

 

How so?

They are being matched up with each other by fans.

I think Pac's achievements are making people forget about weight classes. He is somehow suppose to fight everyone from lightweight to middleweight while Marquez who is the same size (only a few pounds difference on fight night) gets massive credit for beating a lightweight contender and is not asked by fans to fight anyone above 140.

 

I voted for Manny vs Margarito. Marquez looked terrible when he fought Mayweather in a little over a year ago and is suspected to be past his time. That is one of the many reasons people think that he would have a tough time against Katsidis, who I think is nothing special.

 

Margo is STILL a better fighter than Kats buddy. There's no debating that in the real world. Marg is also a lot bigger than JMM, Kats or PAC. All of which strengthen the case that PAC's win over Marg out weighs JMM's over Kats.

I'll give you JMM is at a place now that is past his best physically and overall but again....he struggled a bit with Kats in spots when a Prime JMM would have wiped Kats out withing 4 or 5 rounds at most.

I gurantee Kats doesn't become a world champ on the level of Marg at any stage in his career. He's a solid fighter but he fails his biggest tests.

The performance with Diaz vs JMM was on level with the performance he put on with Kats this past Saturday. Diaz is better than Kats in all areas except physical strength and power. Yet JMM struggled with both.....moreso with Juan Diaz, but still.

 

marquez and it aint even close.

katsidis was in great form, margo was not.
katsidis was a top rated fighter, margo was not.

pac doesnt get much credit at all for beating a punching bag who everyone except even the most ardant pac hater, knew he would dominate.
