It's hard to say. I think Castillo was less worn, whereas Chavez really was shot. However, Chavez in his prime was a much better fighter, so by the time he had gotten worse than Castillo, he was probably still the better fighter. Chavez also beat three name fighters in Wise, Randall and Robinson. All three were done too, but still names. Castillo however, will never get another big/decent win.

I'd say Tszyu should get more credit. He beat a true ATG, and fantastic fighter.

Hatton beat someone who was once great, but had been poor for a while, and will never beat anyone decent again.

By the way Freddy, when are you gonna do another boxing show? I used to look forward to those. Great stuff, and definetly better than any others on YouTube.

    Hatton

prime Chavez would've surely beaten Tszyu, while prime Castillo might still have lost to Hatton in a close fight.

to me Chavez was beyond shot and noone deserves to have such a great name on their resume when hes so far past his prime

Tszyu. Chavez was well past his peak, but he was no pushover. Still a very good fighter. And it was a very impressive performance by Tszyu. He even knocked him down! Only one of two people to do it in over 100 fights wasn't he?

And did Castillo even try against Hatton?

Fights leading up to those two battles.

    Chavez

    M A Gonzalez Draw 12
    K Sigurani W TKO 3
    O Dela Hoya L TKO 8
    V Smith W TKO 4
    M Jakubowski W KO 4
    W Wise L 10
    B Smith W TKO 3
    Tszyu L TKO 6
    T Thomas W TKO 2
    W Wise W TKO 2
    F Randall W UD 10
    I Robinson W UD 10
    G Wiley L RET 5

    Castillo

    J Diaz W TKO 10
    D Corrales L TKO 10
    D Corrales W KO 4
    R Reyes UD 12
    H Ngoudjo SD 12
    Hatton L KO 4
    A Casillas W TKO 6

Now that is there records within the same amount of time 2 years before and there records after.

Now if i was to look at that and to think who is a greater fighter and even at that age its Chavez hands down. Not taking anything away from Hatton but Chavez was still beating ranked guys like Robinson and Randall.

    what u on about.

robinson and randall were shot to all hell and so was chavez.

those guys had just slipped that bit further.

both were journeyman when chavez recorded wins over over em a few years ago. :bart

Just like Castillo was and Tszyu was old to aswell as 75% of Hattons opponents.

What are you saying that Castillo even at 33 was a better fighter than Julio C Chavez at 38.

No way not even close. actually its about 50 wins the difference.

chavez was gone when he fought tszyu.

the wbc just wanted there sanctioning fees.

castillo had a solid win over ngoudjo and knocked corrales out 18 months or so previous.

chavez was losing to club fighters like willy wise before he took on tszyu. :patsch

Tszyu was ranked no lower than number 3 pound for pound when Hatton beat him.
