I think he would do the same for any heavyweight.

This is based on what evidence?

Ali beat the biggest collection of bangers the division has ever known, stop trolling.

I'd say Frazier first and foremost, Marciano maybe second.

    FRANKENFRANK...you really are entertaining...!
Can i ask you to throw Tyrell Biggs in for good measure ??

my own take...well Frazier beat him fair and square when both had no excuses.
    ditto Ken Norton.
Lennox at his peak is a 50-50 fight for me.
Holmes at his peak woukd pudh him close.
Tyson at his absolute peak (although it was very short) takes anyone out potentially ?

Also some durable guys through the years would give him a nights work...Riddick Bowe,Francesco Damiani,Ray Mercer,Tony Tucker...would all go the distance...or at least be competetive.

Holmes was not an inferior anyone ... Holmes was his own entity and with his huge reach, speed, amazing jab, stamina and chin he would always be a terrific match up to challenge Ali ...

A prime Tyson would always be dangerous ..

A pre-war Joe Louis could be extremely tough ..

Jack Johnson could take his jab away and be very tricky ...

Lennox Lewis would be dangerous for anyone but Ali may just be too fast ...

Look into Alis career ...in his prime or closest to his prime it was the smaller quicker hwts that gave him a level of Trouble. The bigger men generally Ali beat easy or easier. So when I see big lumbering men I also see fighters who could not cope with Alis speed. Ali was just too quick to be caught vs slow hwts and in process the slower opponent would be cut to ribbons. That beingsaid the larger slower opponent would need to have a high degree of toughness and will to win to absorb huge levels of punishment in the hope they could land a ko blow....but koing Ali was something very difficult to do.

This being said the past champions with the best chance of beating prime Ali or even giving him a good fight were.....Dempsey, Tunney, Louis, Marciano, Charles and Frazier...perhaps Holmes although I dont beleve Larry would be able to handle Alis speed in the long run. All had the speed, skill or style and fighting heart to compete with prime Ali. As much as I admire Lewis I just see Ali outboxing him and hitting him 5 to 1. The Klit brothers even worse...they would be constantly hit with no hope of avoiding Alis very quick punches and unlike Lewis they don't have the fighting heart or will to win to take much of this punishment.

Younger Dempsey would be trouble, but Ali Wins. Marciano would be to slow. Louis not fast on his feet. Frazier was always trouble. Of the 44 rounds they fought, I'd have to say Frazier got the best of him, at least equal. A young Tyson might break him up. The only question would be Tyson's heart against Ali, who had unbelievable will power.

Which not witch friend. On the torn glove matter Dundee didn't tear the glove, as he said it had ripped and he helped it along a little before calling over the ref. Ali was hurt no question but as we later saw after taking Shaver's huge right hand in the second round of their go, Ali could recover from the hardest blows landed on him.

That ability to recover came later in his career. He didn't have it back then. The break + the extra time, depending on which story you choose to believe, and the illegal use of smelling salts, that's what helped him get through it.

Sure. Who was the guy that got up immediately after getting hit then and walked back to his corner on good legs? When Ali went down, he got back up with some of the quickest recouperative powers ever seen in the sport.

He was never a guy to get confused with a Frank Bruno type. So even if he goes down, he just loses a round. Then, he instantly changes the complexion of the bout and changes any hope of momentum.
