Of these guys, who gives Tyson the tougher time? Earnie Shavers Ron Lyle Cleveland Williams Jerry Quarry Do any of those men give him a fight to remember?
Ahhh wow, I think he gets rid of all of those guys in maybe 5rds tops - Clev is a highlight KO he’s too sloppy… Lyle is about the same, Shavers gets the axe also and Quarry… interesting but short - I think Tyson is underrated by the “hardcore fans” Wlad, Tyson, Louis and Usyk are among the four most disrespected HW champions here lol like we have people saying Usyk gets beaten by Young? Wlad being beaten up by Liston somehow? With what the power of friendship? Louis is apparently chinny with a poor defence and bad footwork lol - Tyson loses to basically everybody unless they’re modern or Frazier lol he fought like a 220lbs bantam he wrecks most peoples hero’s.
I don't think either of them fair that well against Tyson honestly. Shavers and Williams would be bombed out early. Quarry has the counter punching skills to make it interesting for a few rounds but he gets taken out by middle rounds. Lyle is more durable than Shavers and Williams and would probably give a decent account of himself hanging in tough vs Tyson for a few rounds and landing a few decent shots but again he gets taken out in the middle rounds. Realistically Quarry and Lyle are the only ones who could make it to the middle rounds so probably 1 of them.
I think Quarry is an interesting one. He definitely does better against the older Tyson, the one in-between Holyfield and Lewis. He'd not beat Tyson,no way, but makes it interesting for a while. Prime Tyson hurts him early and fast imo.
To be very honest, not a single one of the four would be competitive with the 88 Tyson. Quarry would last the longest, but it'd be a one sided battering until the ref intervenes to save Jerry.
I’m going to say Ron Lyle. Even though Quarry and possibly Williams were better. He had the right blend of size, durability and grit to MAYBE last a few rounds with Tyson and even give him a bit of a workout.
Lyle and Quarry have skills and durability, while Shavers and Williams would be easy targets, and their weak chins would not help them either.
